For his third go in Paris, Alexander Wang turned to a familiar face (on both his runways and Balenciaga's). Gisele Bündchen brought the Fall 2014 show to a strong close — which was a fabulous surprise, but made all the sense in the world given the overall impact of the striking collection.
There was a definite reverence for the past with Balenciaga's rounded shoulders and satin accents, but those silhouettes and fabrics were used in the most modern of ways. There was a forward-thinking movement in Wang's shapes as much as in Gisele's powerful walk, whether those pieces came studded, lined in leather, or even twisted, in the case of one particularly covetable gray sweater. And if history repeats itself, we're certainly looking forward to seeing how Gisele will translate these bright and textural styles in a forthcoming campaign!
