Olivier Rousteing loves a strong, '80s shoulder, but there were moments during his Fall 2013 show for Balmain when he inverted his proportions and focused on the hips.

More than one model came down the runway with her waist cinched in by a wide belt, only to have her hips visually expanded by a miniskirt that jutted out over her lower half. Some of them were rusched into that shape, while others were cut from a diamond-patterned fabric. Speaking of fabrics, many of them, like moire, silk, and gold lamé, had a metallic candy-wrapper quality. That, combined with the proportions of the clothing and the large chandelier earrings the models wore, helped this offering scream with the same kind of glam-rock urgency that has fueled all of Rousteing's outings for Balmain.
