For the past two years, American Eagle Outfitters' sister brand Aerie has made a commitment for its campaigns: to be 100 percent real — as in no Photoshop. For many brands, airbrushing images to "perfection" is standard, but for Aerie, a brand popular for its lingerie and swimwear, showing real women's bodies is what's important.
Last season, the brand tapped actress Emma Roberts [1] to star in its unretouched photos. For its latest ads, the brand chose 19-year-old Wilhelmina model Barbie Ferreira. Barbie poses in the brand's colorful swim separates and looks absolutely flawless.
Barbie also stars in a video for the brand, in which she discusses the #aerieREAL campaign concept. "Not being retouched in the images is something that is very important to me," she said.
