The Fall '15 Gowns That Should Walk Right Off the Runway Onto the Red Carpet

Most of the time when we spot a gorgeous dress on the runway, we dream we're wearing it. A girl can't help it — shimmering embellishments and intricate details lend a gown pure magic, after all. But other times, we spot a design, and we immediately picture it on a specific celebrity.

Perhaps it's because we're fresh out of award season, or maybe it's because we're unabashedly knowledgable about our favorite stars and their taste in formalwear, but we've got a feeling the dresses below were made for the red carpet. As you might expect, we're playing stylist, too, and dressing the stars in Fall '15. Read on to see who's wearing what, and be sure to let us know if you agree with our selections in the comments.

Givenchy Fall 2015

As soon as Jessica Chastain left the Fall 2015 Givenchy show, she Instagrammed this sparkling ruby dress, referring to it as "EVERYTHING." Since we're positive it would highlight her gorgeous red locks, we'd be surprised if Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci didn't hand her the dress straight off the runway.

Elie Saab Fall 2015

Gwyneth Paltrow looks great in bright colors, and she's not afraid to try something new, whether it be a standout ruffle, padded shoulders, a belt, or sheer panels. We think she'd love showing off her svelte figure in this glittering Elie Saab gown.

Valentino Fall 2015

Every time Keira Knightley shows up to the red carpet wearing Valentino, she looks like a total goddess. We're almost positive this ethereal lace gown was made for the star, who loves to show off her romantic side.

Sonia Rykiel Fall 2015

This past award season, Jennifer Aniston favored plunging necklines on the red carpet. And while we have yet to see her try out sequins, the actress does love darker colors and has no problem showing off her cleavage and her toned arms. It may be wishful thinking, but we'd love to see her try out this Sonia Rykiel design.

Christian Siriano Fall 2015

If Lupita Nyong'o were to wear Christian Siriano, we think she'd have a major moment in this deep red, petal-adorned dress. The gathered tulle and delicate detail are enough to give off serious princess vibes.

Matthew Williamson Fall 2015

We definitely classify Suki Waterhouse's style as bohemian, but she's not afraid of lending her look some sex appeal. We've seen her in a plunging neckline before, and we bet she'd look like a total goddess in this floral thistle-colored design.

Emilia Wickstead Fall 2015

Despite Felicity Jones's small frame, she frequently pulls off full silhouettes and looks totally gorgeous. When it comes to her style choices, she's also classic, which is why we can see her in this modest Emilia Wickstead coat gown.

Marchesa Fall 2015

When Blake Lively took a seat in the front row at Marchesa’s Fall ’15 show, we couldn’t help but pick out a dress for the star. We can picture her having a supersexy moment in this deep purple gown that's completed with just the right amount of lace. Blake loves to show off her best assets, and because this silhouette would cinch her at the waist, it totally fits the bill.

Giambattista Valli Fall 2015

Giambattista Valli Fall 2015

Zoe Saldana has professed her love for trying out new styles, but the actress does look particularly lovely in baby pink. Since Giambattista Valli is one of her favorite designers, we can totally picture her in this feminine embroidered gown with chiffon ruffled sleeves.

Carolina Herrera Fall 2015

Even if you're not a Disney fan, this sculptural gown will make you think of Cinderella almost instantly. And because Lily James is making her big debut in the film, we think this dress would help her slip into character.

Lanvin Fall 2015

While Kim Kardashian may have shown up to the Lanvin show in a sheer dress that emphasized her cleavage, she's not afraid to try designs that reveal a whole range of her finest assets. Plus, we're getting robe-like vibes from the velour detail on this look, and we already know that a robe suits Kim well.

Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2015

Alessandra Ambrosio loves to show off her supermodel bod in cutouts and body-con gowns. She's worn Alexandre Vauthier dresses before, and she's stunned every time. We think this sexy design has her name on it.

Vionnet Fall 2015

Emma Watson's been known to bless us with a red carpet surprise (remember when she wore a Dior Haute Couture dress over pants at the 2014 Golden Globes?!). We think this silhouette would not only flatter her petite figure but also prove her fashion-forward style sense.

Mugler 2015

Mugler 2015

When Gigi Hadid skipped underwear in order to rock a superrevealing dress at the Oscars afterparty, it was confirmed: the supermodel loves cutouts. We can totally see her flaunting her toned bod in this eye-catching Mugler number. It may be white, but with slits that expose the thigh and the waist, Gigi would have no problem standing out.

Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2015

Bibhu Mohapatra Fall 2015

While Felicity Jones tends toward structured Dior silhouettes, we don’t think she’d mind slipping on this lovely Bibhu Mohapatra dress for a red carpet appearance. Its play on proportions is totally unique, and the off-white shade feels more glamorous than bridal.

J. Mendel Fall 2015

Actress Rosamund Pike usually sticks to a black and white color palette, but that doesn't mean she shies away from striking details. We think she'd slip right into an interesting silhouette like this one, especially because of its delicate sleeves.

Ralph Lauren Fall 2015

Ralph Lauren Fall 2015

Something's come over Jennifer Aniston, and she can't do without a plunging neckline on the red carpet. Because black is her lucky color, we think this tailored, totally hot, suit-inspired dress will work wonders on her toned bod.

Reem Acra Fall 2015

Nicole Kidman has a love of white dresses, and she always manages to look sexy in modest silhouettes. While this might scream wedding at first glance, we think Kidman's capable of changing that.

Jenny Packham Fall 2015

Jenny Packham Fall 2015

Jenny Packham is one of Kate Middleton's favorite labels. She's sported the designer's elegant deep blue gown not once, but three times, and even gave off sexy vibes in a leggy look! This collared embellished dress is modest enough for the duchess, so long as she doesn't go totally sheer!

Christopher Kane Fall 2015

Christopher Kane Fall 2015

Lily Collins always selects the most breathtaking designs, most of which are complete with killer details, like the sparkling branches on this Christopher Kane number. While it might be unexpected on a red carpet, Lily changes up her look frequently, and she's not afraid to surprise.

We bet her eyes widened when she spotted this gorgeous gray dress that doesn’t skimp on sparkle and would totally highlight her toned arms.

Antonio Berardi Fall 2015

Antonio Berardi Fall 2015

When we think body-con jumpsuit, the first person who pops into mind is It girl Kendall Jenner. Leave it to a supermodel to take a risk in a tight little number like this, which also boasts a skin-baring bustier.

Stella McCartney Fall 2015
Getty

Stella McCartney Fall 2015

The Stella McCartney show was not only Cara Delevingne's first appearance at Fashion Week, but the It model also sat front row. One of Cara's best looks has to be the black crop top and trousers she sported to the 2014 Met Gala, so we know she wears Stella McCartney's pants well. Hopefully she tries out this avant-garde jumpsuit look, pearl choker included.

Delpozo Fall 2015

Delpozo Fall 2015

We always look forward to Michelle Dockery showing up on the red carpet. Time and time again, the Downton Abbey star proves she’s just as capable of pulling off a polished, regal gown as she is a totally avant-garde look. We think she’d make this striking Delpozo design appear totally elegant, exposed zipper and all.

Chanel Fall 2015

We can see actress Diane Kruger bringing a dose of fierceness to this A-line babydoll dress. Since the style savant loves Chanel, along with added embellishments, like the silver button details on this design, we hope she adds this design to her red carpet looks.

Prada Fall 2015

Prada Fall 2015

Miuccia Prada has dressed Kerry Washington countless times for red carpet events. Unlike the actress's alter ego, Olivia Pope, Kerry loves the color pink and exciting silhouettes. We're sure that when she sees this structured mini for the first time, she'll think, "It's handled."

Antonio Berardi Fall 2015

We can always expect Cate Blanchett to stun, and never in a bad way. Instead, she changes our minds about shapes we never thought to be wearable and color pairings we wouldn't dream of. We think she'd feel pretty good about this gold-embellished satin dress.

Burberry Fall 2015

The queen of fringe herself, Poppy Delevingne, could rock this suede embellished dress on a red carpet with a dark lip and strappy heels. It's one of those all-in-one pieces that'd make any girl swoon, and Poppy's wardrobe is full of those!

Erdem Fall 2015
Getty

Erdem Fall 2015

If someone doesn't put this dress on Emma Stone immediately, we're going to freak out. We were obsessed with its textural elements and bold color right off the bat, but from its scalloped hem to its high neckline, this Erdem design fits right into the star's modest wardrobe.

Altuzarra Fall 2015

Altuzarra Fall 2015

Sienna Miller would totally rock this embellished high-neck halter dress. The thigh-high slit and open back are edgy enough for the style savant, but the button-up lace detail keeps things feminine.

Jason Wu Fall 2015
Getty

Jason Wu Fall 2015

Style maven Diane Kruger was one of the first stars to wear a dress from Jason Wu’s Spring '15 line, so we wouldn’t be surprised if she also debuts his Fall collection on the red carpet. Since she’s a pro at pulling off unique silhouettes, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her opt for this high-neck, athletic-cut design. Maybe even in a custom colorway?

Saint Laurent Fall 2015
Getty

Saint Laurent Fall 2015

Does this mixed-media look scream Madonna's name, or what? We can just see her strolling the red carpet casually in this superloud Saint Laurent minidress. And we can't say we wouldn't be humming "Material Girl" to ourselves all the while.

Dior Fall 2015
Getty

Dior Fall 2015

Marion Cotillard's looks always include unexpected details such as a poofed-out silhouette, a high neckline, or a bright burst of color. This artsy graphic-print shift, complete with a contrast turtleneck, is perfect for the actress. Plus, it doesn't hurt that Marion's been the face of Dior since 2008.

Rodarte Fall 2015
Getty

Rodarte Fall 2015

Rodarte dresses Dakota Fanning on the regular, probably because the young star has the ability to make a totally advant-garde dress look ethereal and pretty. We can see her slipping right into this design, accessories and all.

Getty

Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2015

If you can’t picture Jennifer Lopez in this Cushniet et Ochs cutout number, then you just haven’t seen enough of her red carpet style. She’d definitely ahem, fill out this dress, and it’d allow her to show lots of leg, too.

Maiyet Fall 2015

Proenza Schouler Fall 2015

Kate Bosworth has no problem making a statement on the red carpet — especially in Proenza Schouler. She’s slipped into slinky minis and flowing gowns alike, but you can be sure she’ll be all about the fresh, standout feather details that string together the label's latest offering.

Ralph Lauren Fall 2015

Ralph Lauren Fall 2015

Just give Diane Keaton a suit jacket and tie, and she’s ready to hit the red carpet. While the actress has shown up to the red carpet in pants plenty of times, we think this full-length skirt and suspender combo feels fresh and totally fits in with her signature look.

Fausto Puglisi Fall 2015

Fausto Puglisi Fall 2015

To put it plainly, Miley Cyrus often forgets to cover up. And when she makes a statement, she's loud and proud about it. We think this kelly green Fausto Puglisi mini is begging for a spot in her closet.
