Buy The Winning Project Runway Look at Steve & Barry's Stores!

Buy The Winning Project Runway Look at Steve & Barry's Stores!

OMG. How exciting was it that Fab favorite SJP was the special guest on last night's Project Runway? I know we said that Bon Jovi was to be the special guest, and we apologize to any major fans of the man, but we'll take a SJP special guest judge any day.

Down to business: was Victorya Hong's bowed dress and vest your winning pick too? I have to admit I really liked the vest but the dress was a bit tent-like and the color fell flat. I actually really liked the cape from Elisa and Sweet P and the LBD (and beret!) by Kit and Chris. For those who second SJP's emotion and loved the winning look you can buy it tomorrow at Steve & Barry stores nationwide.

A stretch-cotton dress ($19.98) similar to Hong’s design is available at Steve & Barry’s stores beginning November 23rd in both black and burgundy, as is a separate plaid vest ($14.98) in grey/black. Exciting.

i loved that cape, seriously loved. and i'm not a vest person, so i'm not going to be buying that, and that dress would look like poo on me, so i'm not going to be buying that either. but i generally love bitten, in fact i'm rocking the bitten jeans right now, such a good dark wash and htese have held up amazingly well. i almost love them as much as my citizens. and that's a compliment. anyways, i was disapointed that she chose that outfit, it did seem like the style was last year, instead of fresh and forward like this year. oh well. it was good to see bitten get press and SJP have fun! :) how cute was it when she was excited to say see you on the runway!

I finally watched the episode, and the cynic in me thought it was a great PR move for Bitten, which has gotten some criticism for being made in overseas factories. (Steve & Barry's has had tons of criticism for sweatshop labor over the years.) But by saying, "Oh, it has to retail for $40 or less, and you have $15 to spend on fabric," it makes it look like the garment would actually cost that much to make. Which makes Bitten look fantastic. Still, if you factor in fair labor costs, there's no way it could be that cheap. Just sayin'. I do have to say, though, SJP was really sweet to all of the contestants. She is a class act!

I think the vest gets lost in all that material. The dress has no shape and I don't like that bow either. I liked the teal outfit from Sweet P and cuckoo lady.

I thought we said good riddance to trapeze dresses in September :[ I was very upset that this dress won, Elisa's was so fresh & fun! I hate teal and I still wanted six of them! Then again, this was taped (I think?) when this style was still in. The color is horrible, it sucks the life out of everything around it! Especially the cute vest! xoxo

the thing about SJP's line is that while the stuff is cute, its really badly made. i bought some things when the line first came out, and i have regretted it. it fell apart in the wash, shrunk, the fabric isnt great. now maybe i just had a really bad experience with it and got merchandise from a bad factory run (though what are the chances that EVERYTHING that i bought had the same problem?!) but i think that its just cheaply made. from a production point of view i look at it this way: steve and barrys probably pays the manufacturer (not the factory) around 50% less than they are charging the customer. The manufacturer is probably charging Steve and Barrys around 30% more than the cost of the garment (which includes SJP's royalties and duty and warehouse and shipping/packaging - costs aside from the actual garments and labor). that doesnt leave a whole lot of money to make good quality merchandise. and i dont think that steve and barrys is like walmart in their quality standards or volume, which makes it compelling for somebody to manufacture for them and sell it to them while making hardly any profit (if any). i also personally dont want to look like a tent, i love the loose trapeze dresses, but this is really a bit too volumous for the average woman to wear without looking ridiculous. im actually surprised that it won the challenge. and not to be a fashion snob or get on my soap box - but im going to do both for a second - this style was sortof last season. i feel like been there, done that. where is the innovation? shouldn't that be a big part of deciding who should win a design challenge?!

The vest is cute, but the dress is hideous. I thought last week's winner had the best outfit on the runway this week too.

I lovvveeee SJP's line at Steve and Barry's. It's so cute. This vest is adorable, I would definitely wear it. The dress is a little too sack-like for me. I'm too petite for it, it would just hang on me and look weird.
