Trey Laird had always wanted to create the annual CFDA journal with photographer Peter Lindbergh, and this year he finally got the opportunity.
The journal, which Laird has art directed every year for the past six years, features Lindbergh's photography of all of the nominees for this year's CFDA Awards, which will be presented in New York on Monday night. Lindbergh and Laird shot the designers and models wearing their clothing, and all of the photos are black and white.
"Peter and I wanted it to be like a running impression, almost like sketches, to show the mood and the feeling of each designer's collection that they're nominated for," Laird told The Cut. "Normally we just do one key look for each designer, but this time we wanted it to be several looks that, when showed together, made a little story of that designer's collection."
