Christian Lacroix Designs Uniforms For French Railway SNCF 2009-12-14 10:00:22

Christian Lacroix Fashions French Railway Uniforms: Love It or Hate It?

Those following the Christian Lacroix saga know that the couture house has been in financial trouble — and now it has been reduced to a licensing operation. Sad, but that's not going to stop Mr. Lacroix from creating. In fact, he is now responsible for French railway SNCF's uniforms; 20,000 employees are soon going to sport his gray and purple getups, which include skirts, blouses, and jackets for women. They're far from Lacroix couture, but do they strike your fancy?

It looks nice. Lacroix also did Air France's uniform. He is a genius.

Hate it! That jacket is boxy and lacks form.

I think they're surprisingly utilitarian while still managing to have a small bit of flourish. I'm curious about the pricetag, but I'd imagine that these will be made of a better material than previous uniforms.

Lose that hat, and yes I love it.

This just proves that once you've established your name as a brand, some people out there will stick with you (no matter how bad your product is). If there were any other label on these uniforms, almost everyone would hate them. Plain and simple. Since they've been made in China, but say Lacroix- everything is peachy. I only hope to oneday have that sort of power over people's perceptions. That's when you've made it. Bankruptcy or not.

I don't love it, but I don' t hate it -- I guess they aren't bad for uniforms! Way to use the purple trend. Love purple.
