HauteHelena — Help! I Can't Decide Which Loubs I Want More

Footwear Frenzy member HauteHelena needs our help — which Louboutins should she buy?!

This year, thankfully, the IRS gods have been good and given me a lot of money. In my conquest to become my city's Carrie Bradshaw, I decided that I should use the money towards something I've dreamed about: my very first pair of Louboutins. So I traveled 520 miles to the Christian Louboutin boutique only to find that the styles in stock were too trendy to justify spending $800. I walked into a Neiman Marcus an hour later and there was my shoe — a gorgeous, shiny, black patent leather heel. The Bianca (like this but patent). Then I came across these on Net-a-porter. So, what should I go with? Because in one way, I hate the super pointy shoes but they're classy. I love the Bianca but that platform isn't going to live forever.  Help, please! By the way, these are the ones I bought and am thinking about returning below.

There are already a bunch of groups you can join and explore, and please — start some new ones! Here's a helpful guide to creating in case you need some clarification.

I'd say keep the platforms. True, they won't be in every season or year, but they're kickass and have a little more personality than the pointy ones :)

The pigalles are classier but will still be around next year where I wouldn't be so sure the Bianca's will. Get the pair you love the most, like love, heels are best chosen with the heart. Enjoy your Loubs.

The ones on Net-a-Porter are better. The Bianca shoe looks cheap and ugly, which just adds insult to injury considering how much they probably cost.

I love platforms...I remember when they first became a huge hit! Also, patent leather is back which is also a great look. I personally like the ones you bought. You say the platform is not going to live forever, but trends come and go so don't ever throw anything away. The shoe is very fashionable and classy. You can wear them with so much. The platform is will be better for your back in the long run(guess it doesn't matter when you're out trying to look stylish). I have back problems and can't wear the 4" heel anymore and wear either a wedge or platform type shoe. The shoes you are thinking about are all good quality. Think about comfort, and what fits your style and then drop those bucks! Good luck strutting your stuff!

Hey HauteHelena! First, the shoes you purchased are fabulous, so please do not fret about such a hefty purchase! Also, remember, these are your first Loubs, not your last or your only ones. While the platform trend may not last, it's been going strong for the past 2 years, and as comfy as they are, I do not see them going anywhere anytime soon. Also, the Pigalle's ARE A MURDEROUS PAIR OF HEELS!!!! Do not let Rihanna's effortless looking red carpet walk fool you, my bff owns them and they are literally only for walking out of a chauffered car and going immediately to a VIP table. Trust your gut, enjoy your purpose, and carry on in all your frugalista glory! P&B

Platforms come in and out of style, but you'll still get plenty of wear out of them. Personally, I find the patent Bianca too loud with the combination of both the patent and the platform. But the leather version is goooorgeous. As for the Pigalle, I love everything about it except the heel. It's too rod-like. Unless you absolutely love one of those shoes, I say keep hunting for something you truly fall in love with. This is the fun part! Enjoy!

The amazing Loubou's from http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/48417 LOVE them... so classic and fabulous

Love them both as well, can't go wrong really! I adore the patent :) My two cents. I love both pointy and the more rounded. As others said I would not worry about the platform going out anytime soon (esp. in a style like CL--they are too classic in that look). I find that more rounded are easier to walk in with higher heels, esp. with a platform. So for an investment shoe your first choice may be the better bet, esp. since the other commenter said she had to take hers back!! The pointy may not be as comfortable for you esp. since you are already not a fan of pointy! Congrats! Love them!

I vote for the ones from NaP! But if you don't like the pointy-toe, they have one that's more rounded/almond. I would definitely go with the more classic pair which is still very stylish! Good luck!

I think you should go with the Bianca's, although if you've got that feeling that you at least need to see what the shoe looks like on your foot than order them and return the one you don't like that much. The Bianca's are so gorgeous, besides you said it yourself you hate the pointy shoe!

I bought my first pair as a 40th birthday present to myself :) I thought long and hard about it since they are so expensive AND you don't really wear them every day. I decided that classic is best. I went with the black patent peep toe (simliar to those above) without the platform. I wanted something that will be in style forever and I am thrilled with my purchase. Once piece of advice I have for you: whichever you choose, FIRST AND FOREMOST take them to your local shoemaker - have the lifts replaced immediately (my original lifts cracked the first time I wore them) and have a red rubber sole put on the bottom - they are thin and look good. As my shoemaker told me - they are called red carpet shoes for a reason - you really can only wear them on a carpet! Good luck and wear them in good health!

Which fits your personality? Both are gorgeous, but advice would be to buy the pair you truly love. Personally, I like the shoes you already own!

I would go with the one you love the most right now, don't think about a few years from now. Buy the ones that you can already picture in your outfits. Start saving more money now too. Because once you realize how comfortable these shoes are you will be on the hunt for your second pair as fast as you can say, Charge! At least that's what happened to me. :)

I'd go with the Net a Porter ones as well, those will ALWAYS be in style. A worthwhile investment!

Pigalle all the way. Platforms are beyond tacky in my opinion.

I think the pigalle is the better choice between the two.

I agree with SpecialSmooth -- don't get pointy toes if you don't like them. Have you looked at the Simple 100s in patent? If you like rounded toe, this might be the right classic pair for you. Just a thought. http://www.saksfifthavenue.com/main/ProductDetail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524446158759&site_refer=AFF001&siteID=px5C9kSs7.A-0rAZasXMHSuO5otgB2Hu6w
