Christy Turlington Stars in Bally's Spring '09 Ads

Fab Ad: Bally Spring '09

For his first ad campaign as creative director of Bally, designer Brian Atwood chose to work with supermodel Christy Turlington. And why not? She's still got what it takes. Mario Sorrenti snapped Christy and male model Oriol Elcacho as a sophisticated and nonchalant couple lounging poolside in Miami Beach. Nice. The vivid colors of the lawn chair, the crisp green grass, and blue pool water serve as a happy background for Atwood's slick shoes. Do you approve of the outcome or should Atwood have gone another direction?

i like the strategic use of primary color. if i were a guy i'd wear those shoes. they're awesome.

Christy Turlington still looks beautiful, but I feel the ad has a retro feel to it. Not sure if that is the direction they were going in, but it's okay - nothing to write home about.

The colors are nice, but unless this is advertising JUST the shoes, it fails at the basic premise of advertising.

So basically, all the designers are just using all the great models of the 80's and 90's instead of creating original ad campaigns - seriously, first it's Naomi Campbell, then Claudia Schiffer, now Christy. Christy is one of my favorite models; she's got such a stunning, unique face; but it makes me sad that her talent is wasted on such a blase ad - universities need to start turning out some new marketing people because the ones that are in the business now have no imagination whatsoever...
