As the cooler weather approaches, one can't help but begin to think about coats. The staple of our wardrobes, come the Fall and Winter months. We rely so heavily on our coats to show us best, to speak the language of style, and to present us in the most gorgeous bundled-up manner possible. For when a "chance of rain and snow" becomes the daily norm for forecast, we have no choice but to find style in our outerwear. Cold-weather fashion is my ultimate favorite. Blame it on the cozy knits and stylish booties, or maybe point fingers at growing up in Canada; either way, finding my own personal style within laying prints, oversize sweaters, and coats that could kill is what makes me wake up with a smile. That, and the baby giggles coming from the room across the hall.
What I predict we will see this Fall and Winter season ahead of us for outerwear are:
Modern Cape: Both in classic solid colors and bold, wild prints, I see this trend taking us long into the new year. A style of this nature, which can be manipulated simply with a belt (as seen in the image) or let loose, it will no doubt be flattering for all woman.
Traditional Trench: As it has done in the past, I foresee this trend never growing old. However, for 2013 I see lots of feminine details being added to a yet traditional classic look. You can never go wrong with a trench coat.
Leather Details: We see it everywhere we look. The leather details don't stop at pants or shirts; no ladies, not this year. Invading coat sleeves, collars, pockets, and belts, you will not see the end of our smooth friend this Fall and Winter.
Utility Camo: We saw the Utility Jacket take over Spring outerwear this year, so it's no doubt I expect to see it amped a little for the colder months ahead. Utility never looked so chic. Thicker, bolder, and coming in camo; I see both the utility and camo coming on strong this Fall and Winter.
What do you predict we will see on the runway this Fall?
