Could You Envision Similar Photos in a Fashion Magazine?

YumSugar found this really cool series of photographs called Drop Dead Gorgeous by Daniela Edburg, and they made me think: if the subject was a model, and the clothes were designer, I could see this style of pictures published in a fashion magazine. Could you?

I've seen a high fashion shoot with a photo very similar to the floating in the water one, and another one with spilt Cheerios and milk (which was apparently first done by Jefree Star (sp?) a Myspace 'celeb').

i think the picture is fab.....its got ther rite color highlites n perfect wind to make it allthe more loud. however the only flaw which stands out stark if one notices is the ladies left hand trying to cover up the short exposed areas.....perhaps the photographer could have used a drape to coverup insted of the hand...

psssh definitely. i was looking through some REALLY old teen magazines of mine and saw an ad for gummy bears (haribo i believe) and it had a blonde woman with tight curls, wearing gummy bears around her neck and it said "when diamonds aren't enough." i think that would be a great ad; a girl in a fabulous outfit at a picnic, gummy bears attacking her.

Heliotrope, everyone gets different things out of all works of art. If I want to enjoy this as eye candy, I will!
It seems like you missed the point of the picture. It's a parody on fashion magazines and what they represent. Switching out the clothes and the women strips the photo of what it represents. It's a very complicated photo if you look closely, not the visual candy you've mistaken it for.

I think they look really good...

Absolutely. They're weird and offbeat, while still cute. I love mixing fashion with social commentary.

I am so glad to hear that other people cut out fashion mag pics and keep them. Sometimes everythign in the picture just clicks with me, and I tear it out and keep it. I have a few hanging on my wall. I agree with Mrs. Schmitt..this looks like ANTM photo shoot (which are retarded most of the time)

These are really cool pictures! As mentioned above, they are reminiscent of an ANTM shoot.

I think it could be done. You know remember when Vogue did that Alice & Wonderland thing with Natalia a few years back and different designers posing as characters from the story? That is how I see something like this in a high fashion mag.

This is so cool, but not for high fashion

These remind me of an America's Next Top Model photo shoot!

I voted yes, as long as that obnoxious look on the model's face would be gone...

I love these! But I think that they stand well alone as art and social commentary. To make it into a fashion spread as well would seem more like a critique on the fashion industry and the problem of binge eating, which the artist claims in the interview she isn't interested in doing. I like them as is.

I totally could :)

My sister has a picture she cut from W magazine a few months back hanging on her wall (she's 15), and it has a model on the floor with fruit cheerios I think. It was very similar in style to some of those. It definitely works, though.
