Chris Peters and Shane Gabier called their Spring 2014 collection for Creatures of the Wind "Hail Hyperborea," but for a collection named after an idyllic and mythical Greek island, there weren't nearly as many tropical prints as you might expect. Certainly there were lots of decorative elements in the shapes of flowers and other plants, and sure, the clothes came in shades of rose red, petal pink, and a light blue that evoked the color of the sea and sky. The shapes, like boxy jackets and ankle-length skirts, evoked the styling of the '40s, but the materials, like silk lamé, mesh, and nylon, made this offering entirely modern. Hyperborean, even.
