There Are About to Be a Lot More Bellies on the Red Carpet

Just last year, crop tops were trending at the Teen Choice Awards, seen on stars like Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian. But if those looks weren't classy enough for you, Emma Stone also bared her midriff on the red carpet — at the Met Gala, no less!

So, for Fall '15, designers are going a step further, giving crop tops a seriously fancy boost. These designs are part of a complete set, most of them worn with long, flowing skirts made of satin, chiffon, velvet, and even feathers. They look delicate and feminine, boasting off-the-shoulder silhouettes or gorgeous embroidery.

Frankly, when we look at the black-tie-appropriate looks ahead, we barely even notice the strip of skin that separates the full ensemble. All we can think about is how breathtaking these styles would look on some of our favorite stars. Read on for the red carpet-worthy crop tops we spotted at New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, and see why we're predicting we'll see a lot of bellies next season.

Adam Selman Fall 2015

Rihanna's favorite designer, Adam Selman, showed a luxe velvet crop top in an off-the-shoulder silhouette. Paired with a complementing mini that's complete with a sheer extension, the avant-garde outfit still appears regal.

Christian Siriano Fall 2015

At Christian Siriano, a full skirt of feathers with a contrast tip was balanced by a classic black off-the-shoulder top. We bet Emma Stone, or maybe even Diane Kruger, could make this outfit look classy with just a simple clutch.

Lela Rose turned up the glam with this white and silver ensemble. While you could easily wear the shift-style tank on its own, when met with a lavish maxi like this one, it's totally elevated.

A midnight-black embellished crop top curved upward at Jenny Packham, showing off even more skin than a typical style. But the glittering cardigan that tops it off lends the look romance and allure.

Jonathan Simkhai's rosy embroidered spaghetti-strap bustier might be a bit more revealing, but we can see some of our favorite supermodels, like Jourdan Dunn or Miranda Kerr, slipping into this outfit for a fancy daytime soiree.

Preen Fall 2015

Preen's printed bohemian set gets a little more coverage from a pair of opaque tights. There's something about the flouncy, flowing hemlines that makes the look all the more feminine and demure.

Katie Ermilio Fall 2015

We declared this elegant Katie Ermilio set property of Taylor Swift as soon as we saw it. But anyone who's got enough confidence to show a little leg and go strapless would appear polished and feminine in this satin set.
