That is a myth. It is not more dangerous, you do not have less control (how would driving without shoes give you less control? that makes no sense...) Look it up, seriously. Call your local police and ask if its illegal. As far as I know, it is not illegal anywhere. There is no reason for it to be. Stop believing stupid things without looking them up. It will make you seem, and be smarter. jude_babe 7 years I have a pair of flats in my car. To change into whenever my feet hurts or when I can't drive in heels. jude_babe 7 years I have a pair of flats in my car. (esp. considering where those shoes have been) RaCheer 7 years I always drive barefoot unless I have complicated shoes on. BloodyFuFu 7 years I've tried it but it's far too uncomfortable. I at least need flip flops. minahmacchiato 7 years no, i could never drive without shoes. for some reason, my feet can't reach the pedals without shoes :/ minahmacchiato 7 years no, i could never drive without shoes.for some reason, my feet can't reach the pedals without shoes :/ kEsLy06 7 years yeah sometimes...like after a party or a night of dancing in high heel definitely!! CurvatudeBlog 7 years the only time that i drive is when i am taking a road trip from chicago to nyc and i can not drive for 15 hours with shoes on! monistar18 7 years if im wearing shoes that can be slid off easily.. which is most of the time then i drive without them.. i feel like i have more control then if im wearing flip flops or something that slides around. but if im wearing sneakers or boots or something like that i just leave them on zc 7 years I do, I prefer being barefooted....though getting a flat tyre whilst driving without shoes is no fun....been there GibsonGIrl 7 years If i'm wearing flip flops or really high heels I do. I'm afraid my shoes will get caught up in the pedals (i drive stick so there's a double chance of that happening too) JessWall1213 7 years Always. Sometimes I drive with my running shoes on, but that feels unsafe since I can't feel the pedals. I cannot fathom how driving barefoot could be considered unsafe, let alone illegal. I can't even imagine driving in heels; now that should be a law! thatsmajor 7 years Why is it dangerous or even illegal to drive barefoot?? I don't get it. I do it when I wear heels. Driving in heels is dangerous! I like driving barefoot... I feel like I have better control. Someone please explain to me why it's dangerous?? And ditto to freegraceform... I wanna see numbers! Asia84 7 years it depends on the shoe.not because my feet hurt, but because i may not be able to feel the pedal, so i take off the right shoe. JaimeLeah526 7 years I do it occasionally when my shoes are really uncomfortable and I actually really like it. I don't think it's any more dangerous than driving in sandals or spike heels. Charlie 7 years driving shoeless in my state is legal, though unrecommended (i checked as soon as i got my license!). i drive most of the summer shoeless and i'll always drive shoeless if my heels are more than 3.5" because at that heel height it's hard for me to get a good grip on the pedals. i always feel like i have better control when i drive shoeless.then again, periodically, i do give my pedals a good scrubbing so my feet don't get all gross.. ;) Charlie 7 years driving shoeless in my state is legal, though unrecommended (i checked as soon as i got my license!). i drive most of the summer shoeless and i'll always drive shoeless if my heels are more than 3.5" because at that heel height it's hard for me to get a good grip on the pedals. i always feel like i have better control when i drive shoeless. then again, periodically, i do give my pedals a good scrubbing so my feet don't get all gross.. ;) Karla-Sugar 7 years ditto — driving shoeless is illegal And it makes my feet dirty and that feels gross. rc630 7 years I do, although I'm not supposed to..it's illegal in GA! ThePerfectScore 7 years I don't like the feel of it... I feel less in control. I love driving in tennis shoes... and hate driviing in heels... RvkPG 7 years I have been living in Brasilia, Brazil for a little over a year. Since I got here someone told me its against the law to drive wearing Havaianas, and since that's the footwear I use the most (I only go to college basically...) I tend to drive shoeless! Don't wanna have to end up with a fine because of some Havaianas! freegracefrom 7 years I can't believe that driving barefoot is considered dangerous. Enough so that it's apparently illegal in some places??? Why? I've never had difficult driving while barefoot. My foot has slipped because of no traction on a pair of flats or abnormally spiky heels. I want to see numbers. How many accidents are caused by people losing control of their vehicles due to their bare feet?
