I'm lucky--my boyfriend's mom hems my pants and takes in clothes for me. And she does a good job, too.

I rarely tailor my clothing. I have a pretty versatile body shape, so lots of items fit me well straight off the rack. But I have had my stepdad take in some dresses on top because my upper body is on the narrow side.

Jude C, I hear you! I found French sizes and teen clothes still fit though (and I'm 40-something so little girl's clothes won't work). I just bought a nice clothing alterations book so I could alter clothes more professionally (been sewing since I was 10). Shipping from Australia wasn't pretty but I just love the book (geniecentre.com) Worth every penny.

I don't get many pieces tailored, but I always take my dress pants and jeans that need to be hemmed to the same woman. She always does a great job and her prices are not high.

I hem my pants, sleeves and take things in. If something needs more complex tailoring I just don't buy it.

I've never gone to one. My mom or grandma used to do it when I was younger and now I do it myself. I usually don't need to get things altered though.

My mom! But I seriously need to take the time to learn how to do it myself.

It's a must-have when you're so little that size 0 needs to be hemmed and taken in. And an expense I hate paying, but it's either that or shop in the little boys' section :(

I do my own tailoring (as well as make clothes from scratch based on pictures in magazines and the Internet). When you see how well clothes can look if they are tailored to your body (like celebrities), a good fit makes sense!

Yes I have one, I myself do my own dresses that I wear inside house but for outside or party dresses I have a good tailor.

I always went to mine to get uniforms hemmed in high school, and now I go to the same person for dress pants and old skirts.

I rarely find a pair of pants that don't have to be hemmed, and most of them have to be taken in at the waist... I found the greatest pair of pants in the world for a steal that were two sizes too big, so I'm getting them tailored to fit. I'm always thrilled with the work my tailor does. I have this top - it's really hard to describe, but the straps are adjustable because you can move the button holes around, but since I'm a pretty small person, the smallest hole is still a lot too big. And my tailor doesn't have a button hole machine! I was pretty shocked. But my friend's mom knows how to do button holes, so I'm going to ask her.I switched tailors about two years ago after the last one sabotaged a silk sheath I wore to a wedding. Eeek! It was so gorgeous. She took it down waay too much and even though I wore it anyway, I just had to hold my breath all night. hahaha

I do my own if it's easy and my mom does the more complex tailoring.

after a "cheap" tailor chopped off a pair of $200 jeans so that they were high waters and unwearable, I've been going to the same "moderately priced" tailor for years now. She's great, reliable, and has a good turnaround time. I must say, I do envy the ladies with 36 inch inseams who don't have to tailor anything... :jawdrop: ;)

I have an amazing seamstress down the street from my house who can alter anything in about 3 hours or less and it is perfect. She is super affordable. Also, I have a Luxe card with Banana Republic and they tailor my clothing for free. Pretty good deal I might add.
