Glittersniffer 5 years Carry-on ONLY. I also don't travel with anything that can't be replaced, with the exception of my 23 year old ratty teddy bear that I won't part with. He gets carryon space, which is a big deal because he's not travel sized. GlowingMoon 5 years Same here -- no valuables in my check-in luggage. When it comes to my jewelry, I'm extra-paranoid, as I wear them. They're very expensive and sentimental items. Putting them in my carry-on is not good enough. Yes, I've set-off alarm, but when the security guards learn it's my bling, they're okay with it. :) JessaG 5 years I remember reading about how easy it is for people... including security swiping valuables when checking luggage... Besides when I am traveling I don't want to have to worry about certain handbags, jewelry, sunglasses etc.....it is bad enough having to stress about my laptop and credit cards and making sure I have all of those goodies. traveling can be so stressful at times...less it more in the end. One of my closest friends had her brand new Chanel sunglasses stolen out of her checked bag. baciobisou 5 years When I fly to school I need to check most of my stuff. But I always make sure I pack my most prized pieces like my favorite balenciaga shoes, missoni scarves, and childhood stuffed animal :o) in my carry on. My checked bag still has valuable pieces but not the priceless. a-million-suns 5 years Only in my carry-on, and I try to limit it even at that. I think I'd be panicking the whole time if I had anything valuable in my checked bag(s) chelseacbboyles 5 years I try not to travel with anything valuable but if I need to I ALWAYS put it in my carry on. Putting valuables in your checked baggage is almost asking for it to get lost/stolen/damaged. I even hate the 30 long seconds that I have to part with my valuables when my carry-on goes through security! ha mommie 5 years Leaning the hard way, never pack anything valuable and even then you can get taken to the cleaners at your destination. Been there done that. Daisy-Duke 5 years I would never pack anything valuable in a checked bag. Always in the carry on! You never know who's going through your stuff once it gets taken away! simplyfab87 5 years I always put my jewelry and other valuables in my carry-on. I don't have a lot of jewelry but the few pieces I have are expensive and mean a lot to me.
