you know, I have been wondering about this for years. my mom always told me that I shouldn't - and I never did because it's uncomfortable (especially being a D), but, one time at a sleepover the subject came up and it turns out all of my friends do. I still don't, but to this day I still wonder why everyone would, and if it really does prevent sagging...

I wear a cammie with shelf support. It helps me feel cute when lounging in my jammies.

I don't know why but whenever I don't wear a bra I feel extremely uncomfortable. SO I wear one all the time.

what is unhealthy about sleeping in a bra?

I nearly always sleep in a bra. The bras I sleep in don't have an underwire though. I had a cyst removed from my left breast about six months ago, and the doctor who did my surgery said he had never seen real 34Ds at my as perky as mine (at my age -- 30). I think it helps sagging a lot!

I'm only a 23B but yes I do because I just feel like... well... all I can say is I don't want nation geographic boobs when I get old.

I always sleep in a bra. I don't think that wearing one or not will have any effect on how large or saggy my breasts are, but it's uncomfortable if I don't wear one. Why are people saying that it unhealthy to wear a bra at night? What do you think will happen? Is there any medical evidence to back up your claims?

and this is where small chested women have an advantage. let it all hang! but big chested women should wear a comfort bra to bed to provide support.

I don't understand this sagging thing. I think its a bunch of crapola. I feel you should let your body be free of constricting clothing for at least 8 hrs a day. give your body a break.

Heck I don't wear a bra many days, let alone to bed. Bra straps irritate my skin.I am astounded at the number of people who still think wearing a bra at night will prevent sagging breasts though. Breast tissue changes as we age. At 40 they're made up of a higher percentage of fat than they are in our 20s. By our 50s our breasts are almost entirely fat, and fat can not withstand gravity like breast tissue and muscle do, so things sag. Having a baby can stretch the skin as well. Ain't no bra in the world gonna prevent that.Exercise will help keep the back and chest muscles at their best, but sagging is part of the natural aging process- anything that tells you otherwise is yet more snake oil to get women to open their pocketbooks.

does wearing a bra really prevent sagging? I've always wondered what evidence this was based on

Its just not healthy to sleep in a bra, unless I suppose you wore the really soft, unstructured kind, or a sports bra. Either way I do not think I could. I just like the simple pleasure of NOT having to wear one for a change! I am larger-chested so I definitely take bras seriously. I can't go without one without looking utterly rubbish, and they have to be well made to boot ...but when it comes to sleep I believe in letting my skin breathe. As for sagging, I trust good posture and keeping chest and back muscles in good shape to support them! Time will tell!

Yeah I don't wear my normal bra to bed. I take it off as soon as I possibly can. I do like some support though...so I'll wear one of those built-in cami's.
