The award season excitement cannot be stopped — not even in the early hours of the morning. All the proof you need is in the before-dawn wake-up call, er, Oscar nominations that took place this morning in LA. To fete the occasion, a very polished Emma Stone and host Seth MacFarlane were on hand to announce which stars and films are up for top honors at the 85th Annual Academy Awards. Before we get into the lineup of stylish starlets nominated, can we talk about Emma Stone's sleek Andrew Gn LWD, perfectly cinched at the waist with a classic black belt? Her ensemble offers up a sophisticated take on daytime dressing, but thanks to the patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps, fit-and-flare shape, and deep-V front, it's not totally stuffy either. Now, onto the ladies we're excited to see much more of, especially considering their latest award season accolades. Among the mix? Best-actress nominees Jennifer Lawrence , for her work in Silver Linings Playbook, and Jessica Chastain, for her role in Zero Dark Thirty. Both continue to impress us with their red-carpet choices — most recently spotted in Valentino Couture and Alexander McQueen, respectively. We've got three other leading ladies that prove ultrachic on and off the big screen, and we're listing the reasons why we love them right here. Keep clicking.
Jennifer Lawrence had quite a busy 2012 with both The Hunger Games and Silver Linings Playbook making their silver-screen debut. But it's her leading-lady role in the latter film that earned her a best actress nomination, and we couldn't be happier for Jennifer. As for her style cred? She's impressed us (thus far) in a gilded cutout Prabal Gurung gown — can you say Girl on Fire? — along with other sexier body-con silhouettes. At the 2013 People's Choice Awards, she showed off some leg in an ultraembellished black-and-silver Valentino Couture number. Needless to say, we're excited to see what else she wears on the red carpet this award season.
Amy Adams received a nomination for best supporting actress for her role in The Master. The actress never disappoints on the red carpet, and we can always expect serious glamour from her. To date, she's wowed in everything from slinky saffron-hued Gucci, to fit-and-flare Dolce & Gabbana, to ladylike Oscar de la Renta. With such a designer résumé at hand, we can't wait to see who she wears to the Oscars!
Naomi Watts earned a best actress nomination for her outstanding work in The Impossible. Of course, we're no stranger to Naomi's style prowess off screen, since the Australian beauty has made her red-carpet mark in creations from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Calvin Klein, and Roland Mouret (at left). We love that she sticks to her classic-meets-modern styling sensibility, but hones in on great tailoring and edgier silhouettes.
Jessica Chastain cannot be stopped, and her latest achievement comes in the form of a best actress nomination for her role in Zero Dark Thirty. We loved seeing her wear everything from cobalt blue Calvin Klein to formfitting Alexander McQueen at the Oscars in 2012, so what will the red-haired starlet wear this season? We're already in suspense of it all.
Anne Hathaway was nominated for a best supporting actress award for her work in Les Misérables, and rightfully so. The pixie-cut starlet sung her heart out, and on top of it all, she has been nailing every red-carpet premiere look since wrapping the film. We're still talking about her leg-baring, edgy Tom Ford look from the movie's NYC premiere, and if she keeps on the same path, we won't be able to stop talking about what she wears to this year's Academy Awards, either.
