I would buy my Charles Jourdan 5' gold heel, gold platform, gold leather for sole of foot in sandle - one strap over the toes and and buckle ankle strap, again, in a  heartbeat! The strappy sandles were off white. I saw them on the cover of some magazine. YES! and I buy them anytime I can. Just got kiltie, ostrich skin, flats for $39 reduced from $140.  If I feel a little down, I take a great looking HIGH heel and casually toss them or place them somewhere on the floor my living room. Makes me feel a whole lot better, when I walk by, take a glance and see them.

@Silvers567 Agreed. Splurging on an investment shoe, like pumps or boots makes sense, I would never spend that much on trendier styles.

I like to think of my designer shoes as investment pieces. I average one new pair a year. I tend to splurge on classic styles that are timeless. For a trendier look I would never pay $700-$900. I sure hope the prices don't keep going up. If they go up I may need to find something else to splurge on.

It all depends on what people can afford. Those of us who don't buy designer shoes are because we can't, not because we don't want to. In my case, I have one pair of very basic Jimmy Choo camel pumps ($180 on sale, still a big deal for me), and one full price air of CL, the basic Decollate. I only buy a pair of designer shoes every 3-4 years, so a $100 price hike won't make a huge difference as I wear these ALL THE TIME for many years. But I would not buy shiny sandals that will only look good one season. It seems like a date of money. Unless I had money like Beyonce. Then I would buy a pair of designer shoes every day.

I diyed a pair of fringe sandals a couple summer ago... I just made fringe anklets that attached with a button that I wore with some black strappy burberry stilettos. Price tag for he fringe makeover: $8.

I think the shoes that are worth the price are Giuseppe Zanotti, Christian Louboutin, YSL, Miu Miu, and sometimes Jimmy Choo. I don't where Kanye thinks $5,000 for a pair of shoes will fly, he needs to stop, his name is not Christian Louboutin.
