Fab Read: Valley of the Dolls

This is the ultimate beach read. I have already read Valley of the Dolls but that was a couple of years ago and it's totally re-read worthy. Pucci-clad Jacqueline Susann's pop-culture classic, if you haven't already delved into the tumultuous lives of Anne, Neely, and Jennifer, add this book to your wishlist pronto. I don't want to give anything away, but between the parties, emotional dependencies, steamy romance scenes, and show biz tribulations, VOTD is a fantastic beach read. It's so good I found myself gasping and laughing while beachside in Hawaii. And the book cover art is so fun and cotton candy pink you'll want to flaunt this fab beach read. The soft cover version is $10.40 and available here.

Clicky, I didn't even know there was a sequel. But, I'm taking your word for it..that it's not that great. Thanks for letting us know. :)

Great book. The sequel, not so much.

I think they're a combination of several stars. Can definitely see Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe.

I heard Jacqueline Susann based the three characters in this book on real people...does anyone know who they might be? I've always wondered about that. :?

GREAT book! More engaging and involved than the 'chick-lit' that is big now (which I like, too, in a different way)

Such a great read. I think this is right up there with Shakespeare--as a timeless classic!

Oh, I commented on this in the fab finds already, but this is such a delicious book... so trashy and hip and I think it broke my heart a little... Highly recommended!
