Fab Tip: Perfecting Racerbacks

Express at ShopStyle

If you've ever worn racerback tops, much like this Express Sexy Basics Racerback Tank ($17), then you know that they have a slight flaw. If they're cut too low, your bra ends up showing from the sides and back. Unless you want to pull a Carrie Bradshaw, I came up with a solution without sacrificing comfort.

To see how I solved this racerback issue,

Damsel at ShopStyle

Bandeau bras, like this Damsel Seamless Bandeau ($8, originally $12), are fun but they provide no support, especially for bustier gals. So my advice is to wear your regular strapless bra underneath your racerback top, but then cover it up with a colorful bandeau bra. That way, the bandeau shows and not your bra. It's a win-win: you get support and pizazz. I suggest picking a contrasting color from your top for a funky feel.

I rely on my convertible bras for these occasions...best of both worlds!

You can't beat those for comfort and I dont mind the look but they make me look flat as a pankcake and I prefer to have a little curve. Racerback bras are great and I also have one of those converter things that turn my lovely padded bra into a racerback as well.

Lol Yea right like that would hold up my DD's!

Those type pf bras do not bode well for us ladies above a B cup, that much I can tell you. Zero support and sorry I could never go braless, I hate it.

Peekaboo straps don't bother me if they're brightly colored. Er... not when paired with a racerback tank though. That's a bit much.

I actually don't mind having my bra showing a little. As long as it is just peeking out the sides and/or back and not the front - but I just think it's a very laid-back look. Anyway, I also like your idea, Fab, because it just adds some spunk and color whether you're doing it to try to hide your bra or just for fun! American Apparel has those bandeau bras in MANY colors and materials and they're awesome. I bought a few of them JUST so that I could wear them with shirts that show my bra.

Yay! I am not alone. I buy the extra long camisoles at costco with the built in bras, love it. I have big boobs and a long torso, so they keep my cleavage covered up top and make sure there's no midriff baring if I lean or bend at the bottom.

TS, I don't like to have my bra showing either. Not even the straps if I can help it (but I sometimes can't because they don't make strapless bras in my size as far as I can tell). Camisoles and layering (not the kind of layering shown in this post) are my best friend.

Oh, pixelhaze. A girl after my own heart. So many tops do need help to be work appropriate! I wear a camisole under almost everything.

In this case I don't think it's the best option, it won't look cute and strapless bras are uncomfortable as all heck. Either buy a racerback or a pretty bra (not carrie bradshaw style, even though she meant to show them her underwear was always ugly)I have a number of bandeaus in different colors but they're for avoiding cleavage and making low cut tops less risque. Good for making a cute top more work appropriate.

I guess I thought it was cool to show bra straps when I was younger, but sometime after college I aged like 50 years overnight. Now I just delight in sleeveless shirts and dress that include a tiny little string and snap to hold your bra straps in.

I live in tank tops and -always- have my bra showing. I don't think it's a big deal... I'm too small to hold up a strapless bra and I don't feel like taping down my nipples every day lol

I don't mind my bra showing anymore. It used to stress me out. As long as i coordinate them together now, i'm all set. But great idea.
