Fall 2013 Fashion Layering Ideas

Runway to Reality: Loose Layers

The following post was written by Nova Alexander, who blogs at Refuse to Conform and is part of POPSUGAR Select Fashion.

Fall is well and finally here, so we're all getting our new wardrobes ready. I love the Fall 2013 catwalk trends, but could only dream about it being a part of my closet . . . until now. I'm going to show you how to turn the catwalk trend of loose layers into a reality.

With loose layers, it's all about building up, with different weights, fabrics, and textures. To get the catwalk style, start off with these cute pleated shorts to give volume, and add an olive cardigan to mix up the textures; the olive and maroon together really give a rich, Fall color palette.

Add a loose longline coat in black, as we don't want to overdo it with the colours, a pair of over the knee socks, and some heeled ankle boots to complete the mixture of textures and layers. To finish off this look, add this beautiful faux fur snood, not only to keep you lovely and warm when it's nippy outside, but the neutral colour pulls the whole outfit together and finishes off the layering nicely.

Of course, if this overall outfit is not your style, then mix and match the accessories to your own taste. But remember, keep it layered, textured, and loose!
