The poor mail carrier must need a serious massage this month after lugging around the September issues of various fashion magazines. Some of the titles even boast that they are over 800 pages. It's become such a joke that Gawker has begun to weigh this years issues. So far, 4 titles equals 9.5 lbs. Don't say we didn't warn you when you pack that beach bag this week - remember to bend at the knees when lifting heavy objects.

Yayita they are mostly advertising you are right....I got UK Glamour the other day and I passed 4 ads of Kate Moss before I got to an article...it is ridiculous...the advertisers pay the wages/shoots and expenses. my friend works on a magazine and she only get £18,000....which is crap money for a Beauty Editor but she travels around the world business class...goes to nearly every celeb party, stays in the most fab locations...so it evens itself out....you work in publishing because you love it not the money.

I have to admit I don't even do Vogue anymore. They're so conceptual - very far removed from my little reality.

I just got my new Lucky in this week and it's full of great stuff - but yayita is right, there are a TON of ads. Have you noticed when you look at Vogue, you literally have to flip through 20-30 pages, front/back, of ads before you get to any content? Ridiculous!

This is ridiculous, I bet you 95% of the magazine is advertising. Why do editors and writers get paid so much when they barely have to write more than a paragraph. Magazines these days are all ads and no content, Don't get me wrong, I like looking at some ads but DAMN! they go way overboard.
