Barney's is going sixties for the holidays, confident that the election (and Mad Men) will stir up plenty of peace and love in those baby boomer cum yuppie hearts. Simon Doonan, the creative director, is making sure that theme is fully explored by way of psychedelic backgammon sets, green t-shirts, Fendi bags with peace sign keychains, and more.
Luella's capsule for Urban Outfitters launched today and a few girls are hot on its trail. The red check muslin stuff (left) looks pretty darn cute but apparently that's not new season? Sigh, we can't keep up with Urban Outfitters anymore. Upon further investigation we discover that this is a UK-only offer which is fine because anyone who is going to spend U.S. two hundred on a muslin scarf at Urban Outfitters probably travels a lot anyway.
This one's for you mom... apparently July didn't look so good for retailers and famed tunic megastore, Chico's, is suffering along with the best of them. The bigger department stores project more confident numbers going into the 'back-to-school' season but the less-back-to-school friendly among them, Chicos included, are faced with even greater loses. We don't know about you guys but when we went back-to-school shopping, our mother would always throw in a couple things for herself. Maybe we should write them a letter saying "Hey guys, guess what? It's going to be ohhhhhkay." (hehe)
The New York Times got crazy with the whole 'olympics' thing with a whopping six-image fashion spread. Is it just us or is the wussy approach to everything in the Style section of the NYT (save for Horyn) totally annoying? Six images? Make them bigger! For a site that has all the fixes and pretty lightbox-y features one could ask for (not to mention the connections and time to spare) you'd think they'd be able to squeeze out slightly bigger galleries and slight punchier content. Why we let this get to us every morning when we write the news is beyond us. Our apologies.
