Fashion In 50 Seconds 8/20/08

Louis Vuitton increases their pricing by 5% when Fall shopping gets underway. Having seen the back end of a boutique or two in our day, we know that this occurs. A lesson in markup: retailers take that measly little wholesale price and they multiply that be 2.25 (brands follow this rule, even if they aren't technically being sold anything). Now, take that basic markup and throw it out the window. The truth is, people will sell things for price at which they can be sold. You can multiply that by 2.25, 2.75, or 8 for all anyone cares. From Louis Vuitton to the guy who sells the fakes. Racked always manages to find points comedic relief when there's not much else going on. In The Daily News, a full-fledged article was published on the appropriateness, or lack thereof, of mandals. The word mandals never ceases to amuse us. After this weekend's NY Times article about the lack of news this summer 2008, we're just going to call this a journalistic free-for-all until something finally happens. Whoa, we haven't been to much this week. Holy, makeover! When did this happen people? If you haven't checked it out yet, just imagine every slick fashion blog/website you know (cough, cough), give it a slightly more expensive Getty subscription, make the font bigger, the pictures bigger, the fashion show click-through more prominent, and you've got yourself the new site. So... is it fashion week yet?
