Freddy Krueger Costume

A Fabby Halloween: One, Two, Freddy's Coming For You . . .

Three, four, better lock your door. We all know it, we all loathe it, in that thrilling, freaky kind of way. I grew up with the Nightmare on Elm Street films — would you believe I have the entire DVD box set? I thought Freddy was the perfect monster: ugly, funny, nasty, and had the coolest weapon. Not to mention the scariest scheme: coming to get you in your dreams! Essential to this costume are the glove and the hat; other than that, play around with a red striped top, shred up some leggings, and don your fiercest pair of shoes. Better lock your door . . .

Are you a scary movie junkie like me? Play Buzz's scariest movie bracket! And what do you think about the Nightmare remake trailer?!

I grew up in a very juvenile household where my dad and brother thought it was great to scare me (and every other neighbor kid). Halloween was the most anticipated holiday in my household for a long time. I can remember waking up in my room in the middle of a summer night to find Freddie standing over me with those gloves. I'd be like 7 and screaming my head off, scared sh*tless and then I'd hear him laughing. He refused to put his costumes away since he never knew when a good opportunity to scare some kid til he peed himself would come along. Kids used to cry when trick-or-treating if they had to so much as pass our house because our yard would be strewn with straw filled dummies and guarantee one of them would be my dad who would jump up and grab them when they least expect it. One year he was the dummy holding the candy bowl, and he would grab all the kids hands as they reached in to take a piece of candy. Another year, he hid in the creek underneath the walking bridge that crossed it and would reach up and grab kids feet as they walked across and start pulling them towards the water. Parents were always knocking on our door to complain to my mom about my dad and brother. I laugh now because it is funny but back then he was a terror!

I was totally going to dress up like this for Halloween this year but I've decided not to go out. The only difference is I planned to wear a black skirt & knee-high boots!
