olivia yes Haute couture is related to expensive clothing but that is not its meaning a haute couture dress is custom fit for its recipient. i spent a week in france recently with a friend who is having a custom made wedding dress so we met and visited many designers (it was amazing) but what makes her wedding dress haute couture vs pret a porter is it is being custom fit to her wishes and body not the price (which is obviously a high one).

So so sorry about the confusion ladies. I had accidentally marked the wrong answer for haute couture. It's custom-fitted clothing! Xo.

Sorry, you are incorrect about Haute couture which is French for "high sewing" or "high dressmaking"; pronounced [oːt kutyʁ] and refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finish by the most experienced and capable seamstresses, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques.

same as the above question #3 is rating the incorrect answer as correct. Question 3: Haute couture Your answer: Custom-fitted clothes Correct answer: Runway clothes Haute couture, which literally means high sewing, refers to custom-fitted clothes.

For Question 3, I answered that haute couture means custom-fitted clothes. It says I'm wrong and that the right answer is "runway clothes" but this is reasoning: "Haute couture, which literally means high sewing, refers to custom-fitted clothes." So am I right?

Woo! 13/13! I feel like I cheated though... I'm French Canadian. >< By the way, the word "Pull" is actually not French. It's an English word, "pull-over", that was adopted by the French only recently.

I'm confused, on # 3 on what the true answer is based on the answer blurb . Haute couture is now considered run way fashion, but before fashion shows, I thought it meant shop made custom clothes. Question 3: Haute couture Your answer: Custom-fitted clothes Correct answer: Runway clothes Haute couture, which literally means high sewing, refers to custom-fitted clothes. thx
