all my money still comes from the bank of mom and dad

Well, I still shop, but I feel guilty when I spend too much now. I never did before.
Never thought of shopping as therapy, and I'm not sure when that became fashionable to do so. Shopping for me was and is a means to acquire something needed, and occasionally wanted. Having grown up on $4k a year in a family of 3, I see money as a tool. Never had a budget where I'd was comfortable regularly throwing money away on expensive ($100+) frivolous items, and I get just as much enjoyment out of a $20 ebay dress as I do wearing my wedding jewels. So no, my shopping habits haven't changed due to the recession, except the markets corrected enough I bought 2 houses.
Not at all. Nothing has really changed for me.
I haven't changed my shopping habits at all and I don't feel guilty. I'm not personally in a recession. I have a job in the medical field and I don't run the risk of being laid off. If for some reason I was, I could easily get another job. I don't think there's any reason I should feel guilty for spending. My salary hasn't changed since the recession started, so why should I have to change my lifestyle?
Guilty - I always think I should've put aside the money I've just spent.
There's definitely more sales... and I'm the type that still likes shopping even if I don't buy anything. :) The mall will always be a happy place for me!
Myystque- totally agree with you! I have to do my part to keep the economy going. I still splurge on shoes. :D
I agree - I feel totally guilty now when I spend lots of cash on things that are not totally necessary.
I don't feel guilty; I just say I'm stimulating the economy!
I think I buy more than before, but I'm buying more stuff that's on sale, and have eBayed more than usual. LOVE great deals.
Guilt kind of puts a damper on spending on clothes for me. :(
I felt guilty buying a bag that costs less than $200 and then I went on buying new sunglasses for more than $200. I really don't get it. I do shop a lot more now though, mainly because of the sales.
i defiantly spend less but i enjoy shopping same as b4
Geez, I just read my previous post and noticed that I sounded a little crazy...
I was supposed to go shopping today but I felt so much anxiety about spending money that I'm not going until Tuesday, when I have a more concise plan about the items I want as opposed to need.
Always been a bargain shopper... I like it more now, because others appreciate my scores, whereas they used to look down their noses and call me cheap :T
Yup - the thrill is gone :o( - I feel guilty when I buy something I really want nowadays. Depresses me.
Stores are having such great sales now, I can buy more than before!
just call me Debbie Downer!
I've been laid off so I can't buy a thing unless it's absolutely necessary. I have mixed feelings about all the sales. Yes it's great that things are less expensive, but it's sad to see people desperate to keep their doors open.
I like to shop and still slurge at the appropriate time. We are saving though for a wee one to come this winter so we will no doubt go all out then ... maybe even a pre-baby shopping trip to NYC for some cute designer baby clothes. Yeah I know they may be worn only once, but still it can be fun!
I think so too redchick. They all are desperate for us to buy, so prices are coming down, which always makes me happy. :D Honestly though, I hadn't been shopping in months (not because of the recession, just because I really didn't need anything and was saving for our summer vacation) and I went this past weekend and bought several things and it was still fun. :)
i like that more stuff is on sale now!
