I had a brief period in my life where I had a good chunk of money and I chose to use part of that to invest in some really nice things...a really adorable Moschino dress that has a distinctly 40s retro feel, cashmere sweaters, some lovely tall leather boots and bits of classic jewelery, along with a few really high end bags. I do sometimes get bored with classic things, but I am glad I have them..because timeless pieces always work, and well made ones last ages, in the end being an "economical luxury". Not to mention when I am so darned poor now, munching on my carrots and tuna..... they sure lift the spirits when I want to feel more flush! Hehe Cassandra57 7 years It has affected me, but not really a lot. I'm shopping more carefully for the basics, and actually using a few grocery coupons. I'm also paying credit cards down / off, and rarely using them, so more is going toward that. And I'm very grateful that DH embarrassed me into buying a boring but sensible and reliable car last time around, it has served me well for 113,000 miles now! Libragirl 7 years IT SUCKS, EVERYTHING IS GOING TO MY GAS TANK! I DRIVE 60 MILES EVERYDAY @#$!^&*(%!!!!! :( angelinemarie 7 years i don't really get it... angelinemarie 7 years i don't really get it... SweetFirefly 7 years I've cut back a little. When I do shop I'm more focused on buying quality pieces that will last instead of trendy pieces. hmcmcd 7 years yup, it has come hard for me, but due to my last credit card bill, my spending is on freeze. Gas is costing me 70.00 a week now when it was costing me 45.00 ~ that money really adds up at the end of the month! amvbob 7 years I'm just more overdrafted! amvbob 7 years I'm just more overdrafted! Cali2747 7 years I've cut back for sure. I drive a total of 60 miles a day for work, and fill up the gas tank three times. Shopping has become more difficult, but if you spend the time to look, you'll find beatiful good quality stuff. Buying cheap doesn't always mean buying cheap quality.Fab, I'm disappointed that you even gave "What sluggish economy?" without a link to SavvySugar. Cali2747 7 years I've cut back for sure. I'm trying to stick to sales only right now but it's tough. I've been trying to save on other things rather then my clothing/beauty budget. EkaterinaBallerina 7 years I am a consummate shopaholic. And I'm also really good at finding really good steals. For the most part I only shop sales. My mom says its one of my true gifts (I'm sure she's not too serious about that)The economy, as bad as it is, hasn't really changed that. Mainly because I can't help myself. alcook87 7 years I'm trying to shop less but its hard! But I'm making the effort to only buy things on sale, lol! uptown_girl 7 years I never used to spend too much, but I didn't have to really worry about it much either. Now I've taken a pay cut to go from freelance to staff, and I've gotten more benefits (which cost more), and I am having more withheld from my taxes (this past year I owed a LOT), OH, and due to a new policy at work I went from 4-5 hours of overtime to 0-2 hours of overtime. So all of that crap, coupled with rising food & gas costs, means I have NO money left to spend on clothes. It's very very sad. I do about 1/3 of the shopping I used to. Dana18 7 years No , I have a budget and i stick to it. It's either that are stop eating. RoyalBlueMoss 7 years Not really. Maybe very slightly. I'll stop eating and spending money on other things before I stop shopping as much. gabiushka 7 years Not really because I never spent a lot anyways. duchess208 7 years I am buying less stuff, but when i do buy it is great pieces that i LOVE. I would rather spend more on three things than the same amount on like 40. Le-Luxe 7 years Yes...now that I am shelling out $80 to fill my gas tank every week. Insanity. fashion4ward 7 years Nope, I don't really think about the economy often. aimeeb 7 years Nope I'm a frugal nature by person. emalove 7 years Not really, although I am trying to be a little more frugal than I usually am. wren1 7 years No. I use my bank account as my guide. apeacefulife 7 years I wish I'd ever had the coin for high fashion. My mom is an EXPERT at splurge v steal. Wish I'd gotten some of that too!
