FV 6 years I HATE lending out my clothes too: they get ruined or go missing. A friend of mine even wears my clothes more than her own! However, I'm afraid to say no in case I ever need to borrow something of hers... Thoughts? sarahstella 6 years i lent a roommate a 100% silk top. she couldn't find the wash instructions and threw it in the washer. ouch. RoyalBlueMoss 6 years When I was a teenager my older sister who is a size large, XLarge would steal my clothes out of my closet, room, and from the laundry and try to fit herself into my Xsmall tops. She would rip the seams completely out and destroy them. She always lied and tried to say they got that way in the wash. She was a bitch... still is. nourhayaty 6 years looool the 1st and last time i did this i actually lent clothes to my girlfriend and never got them back so i broke up with her prosecco-in-the-park 6 years I used to be okay with lending my things out but over the years as my style has become for refined and my pieces more pricey, I won't chance it. Ikandy 6 years Ive lent out clothes and never got it back...I dont anymore. dcfashionista 6 years I lent my sister a nice crochet shawl with two ball on the front. It was returned with only one ball and I could've rung my sister's neck. Neekoh 6 years I hate letting people borrow my clothes, accessories and such. Not only am I afraid they won't take care of them, but then they get commended for their great taste! Pssh. Yeah, I'm selfish like that. Kkkkkkkkkkk 6 years Ugh, the year after my debs (that's like our version of a prom for anyone who doesn't know) a friend's cousin asked me could she borrow my dress to wear to hers. I had designed the dress myself and had it made and I LOVED IT! I t was black lace over a nude satin, short with cap sleeves and a mandarin collar. She took it, wore it, MACHINE WASHED IT!!!, and gave it back with the lace outer three inches shorter than the lining. It was ruined forever. emalove 6 years Yes! I lent a friend a light blue jersey dress from J.Crew years ago so she could be Alice in Wonderland for Halloween...she returned it to me about 3 months later, with a beer stain on the front. I was totally annoyed. sundaygreen 6 years I've lent out a few items that I haven't even gotten back! Punk-Glam-Queen 6 years I've lent out clothes and never saw them again :( One outfit in particular is *still* killing me 18 years later -- It was a gorgeous hot pink satin Betsy Johnson dress and a vintage stole that was a beautiful green velvet with a lining of white silk and hot pink roses that matched the dress perfectly. I'm most upset about the vintage stole and was just thinking about it the other day. Needless to say I don't lend anymore. In the past when I've borrowed, I've always asked how to clean the item so I could give it back in pristine condition. Rnicolew 6 years To avoid all of the drama- I just say no. There is great power in being able to simply say no.... munchkin2 6 years I tend to want to lend clothes to anyone who asks, but have been bitten quite badly before. One particular episode which sticks to mind involves a (former) friend who wanted to wear a pretty white tunic from H&M my sister had bought me from Paris. The night after she wore it, she was showing me pictures of the night out and told me of a hilarious episode involving a whole can of beer being spilled on her. She had obviously forgotten she had worn my top! The thing that hit the mark was however receiving the top unwashed. Needless to say, we don't speak much nowadays! piesecki 6 years Forget getting them back in bad condition - I lent a pair of vintage 60s sunglasses to someone going to a 60s themed wedding and never got them back at all! She lost them apparently, but I do my best not to lend out things I really love anymore.
