Forget Weather.com: Here's an Outfit Guide For Every Temperature

It's Fall, but aside from stowing away our open-toed heels and strappy sandals, it can be hard to figure out what else to do when it comes to transitional dressing. Do you pull out your turtlenecks straightaway? Are your miniskirts now totally off limits, or can you slip them on with over-the-knee boots? It's OK — we've found ourselves asking the same questions. And that's why it's time for some answers.

We're breaking down the temperatures and offering up the best possible outfit for every high and low, from now through the end of Winter. That means the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning is check the forecast, then come back here to source this handy guide. And hey, if you look through and realize you need to do a little coat shopping, there's nothing wrong with that.

Try: Cropped jeans to let your ankles breathe, a lightweight knit sweater, and dainty shoes. You likely won’t have to worry about bundling up once the sun comes out!

Try: Showing just an inch of leg in over-the-knee boots. Layer a thick leather dress that’s Fall-appropriate over a turtleneck and complete with a shearling jacket. No need to worry about a scarf when you’re wearing a high-neck sweater.

Try: Tights! When the wind is blowing at the early morning or later in the evening, you’ll need them. Cover your ears with a stylish cap and add some sparkle that screams "holiday season." As far as layers go, three’s your lucky number with the addition of a longer wool jacket.

Try: Thicker pants. If you tend to get cold easily, you can even layer thin tights underneath your leather skinnies. So long as your cashmere jumper is extra thick, you should be fine to fight the chill in a structured parka. Plus, it’s time to break out those functional lace-up boots and thin gloves.

Try: A coordinated set built for Winter layered over thick tights, a dark turtleneck, and tall leather boots. Finish with a furry scarf and long coat, and pile your essentials into a tote that’s easy to carry.

Try: A puffer coat — yes, ladies, it’s time. Whether yours is long or short, it’s still possible to find stylish options. Make like Leandra Medine and contrast your jacket with a quirky scarf. If it’s as low as 15 degrees, you might also try slipping on tights between your denim and one or two pairs of socks. Plus . . . a chic furry hat, of course!
