How Much Is Too Much When It Comes to Shredded Jeans?

Seeing Audrina Patridge's crazily shredded jeans made me wonder: how much is too much when it comes to shredded jeans? Surely everyone has their limits. Since I'm not into the overly '80s thing, mine is three medium-sized shreds, max. I don't like my denim too brash. I'm curious, what's your limit when it comes to shredded jeans?

It looks stupid when it's done on purpose (either you were dumb enough to spend a gazillion dollars on shredded designer jeans, or you were dumb enough to take scissors to your brand new jeans) - it's obvious when it's done on purpose.I, however, have a cool pair of accidentally-shredded jeans. They are a pair of jeans (originally just plain blue jeans in girls'/kids' size 16 stretch - good they stretched because I've grown at least half a foot since I bought those jeans) from Limited Too (now known as Justice). Over the years, they've gotten ripped in various places, and sometimes I pluck at the loose threads in the ripped places. I've also gotten paint on them, and I doodle on them when I'm bored. They are awesome. Jeans similar to this are awesome. But it's stupid just to buy designer ripped jeans or to purposely rip non-ripped jeans.

It hardly suits anyone. Especially not girlie girls like Audrina Patridge.

It's funny because I work in denim and hate all the "trends" on jeans. Just give me a nice straight leg, solid wash with no holes or rips, and I'm happy. This trend is everywhere right now! Although I do have a pair of jeans I love and wore so much they ripped at the knee by themselves...

While I don't really like the jeans for other reasons, the Bebe pair in the middle seem to have some sort of sheer under-piece, which makes the shreds better.

i think they look really cool and have that definite rockish hoboish vibe, but I can't imagine actually wearing it in real life w/o looking like you can't afford a nice pair of undamaged jeans.

I wish I could find jeans I love at AE that are not torn up ... it's so annoying.

Three smaller cuts is a good amt. Yeah - I don't understand ppl buying them for so much $ - I have a pair of capris that are shredded a little but got them at a discount store for $20.

the J Brand jeans on the right could be the most hideous jeans I have seen in a long time. I can't stand white jeans to begin with, but ugh, that cut is horrible!

I just dont get this trend. What's the point of spending SO much money on a pair of tattered jeans? I just don't like the look, it's so...hobo.
