Those are common. It's just dryers that haven't caught on for household use. kscincotta 8 years The Hubs has a weird obsession with doing the laundry, which I think he gets from his mother. He washes at least one load at day. This would be great, but he HATES to fold the clothes and put them away, which means we have the only house ever where clean clothes accumulate in piles. It's just plain weird. kscincotta 8 years The Hubs has a weird obsession with doing the laundry, which I think he gets from his mother. He washes at least one load at day. With pets in the house it's a struggle to keep things cat-hair free. SarahKatie 8 years I do my washing every weekend. I have from 3 to 5 loads - whites, darks/blacks, colours, sheets, and towels. Sometimes I'm bad and I only wash my sheets and towels once a fortnight instead of once a week! Shhh! SarahKatie 8 years I do my washing every weekend. Marci 8 years Thanks for explaining, inertia. I understand space issues to a degree because I live in Manhattan. So, do you have a washing machine but not a dryer or do you hand wash most of your things? inertia 8 years Marci, lack of space and the cost of energy are probably the big reasons why dryers haven't caught on in Japan. I certainly don't have room in my little apartment for such a big machine. Also, I think people are a little suspicious of how dryers can damage delicate items, and believe that hanging clothes leaves them clean and fresh. (But actually Tokyo smells so bad that anything I want to have a truly "fresh" smell, I have to hang in the bathroom...) Marci 8 years Why are dryers uncommon in Japan, inertia? I would go crazy without one. Marci 8 years I do it once at week to keep it from getting too out of hand. Plus I like to have my favorite things clean and available. :) inertia 8 years I try to do laundry at least twice a week but it often doesn't work due to the weather. Dryers are uncommon here (Japan) so I'm limited by how much room I have to hang things up and whether I can put any of it outside. Rainy season lasts about a month and a half, and during that time I can wash small things and hang them in the bathroom (where they take forever to dry due to humidity) but can't wash big stuff like sheets that need to go outside. Imabeliever 8 years Every freaking day!!! 2 boys under 4.. one potty training and a hubby that hates to get any dirt or stain on his clothes. Plus all the towels and bedding and work clothes and work towels. I am a slave to my washer and dryer.. :( azucar_maddy 8 years I do some laundry almost every day..whether its towels, denim, sheets, etc. I'm lucky enough to have my own washer/dryer so I don't like letting it pile up! It's overwhelming! kendalheart 8 years At least once a week if not more! I do laundry pretty much every day,I can skip one day sometimes, but more than that it's too hard to catch up.Even if I was just doing my own stuff I'd need to do it about 3 x a week to keep my favorite things ready to wear. anotheranon 8 years OH my Goodness, I know I'm not the only FabSuagr reader with kids! AND all this for only $1 per lb! mmmmmm 8 years I'm with Jeanie, I only do mine when I'm out of underwear and I have ALOT of underwear. I feel like it keeps me from wearing the same stuff all of the time. Meearya 8 years I don't have a washer or dryer in my apartment, so I have to walk 2 block to do the laundromat. So my laundry doing depends on lots of factors--weather, mood, etc. If and when I do live in an apartment with a washer and dryer, then I will know that I have really made it. I would be doing laundry all the time, ALL THE TIME. creamytofu 8 years I only do laundry when i run out of stuff to wear ..or if i can't afford to buy new stuff....laundry is so annoying..
