Hey, it's Allison McNamara. Today on Currently Trending, I'm talking about a classic summer trend, stripes. A few of our fashion favorites including Olivia Palermo, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Taylor Swift have been seen in stripes recently and we spotted on the runway that Marc and Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, and J. Crew. So today, I'm here at Nordstrom in Santa Monica, and we styled up some really chic outfits that will put your stripes to good use all season long. For our first outfit, we started off with a striped maxi dress. Now we chose one with smaller stripes because they're much more flattering than larger stripes. I also really like the neckline here. It's kind of a V-neck which shows some shoulder, kind of sexy, doesn't show too much skin, though. And then we want to give her some shape, so we cinched in her waist with a brown skinny belt. And then a woven handbag, which really adds texture to the whole outfit. On bottom, we added in lots of patterns. Snakeskin and leopard print flats. Now, yes One shoe, two prints, amazing. It really adds a nice depth to the whole look. To finish out the outfit, we gave it a Soho feel with some gold necklaces and my personal favorite, a pair of purple sunglasses. For this outfit we went for a very sleek, sporty look. We started off with this tee by Alexander Wang striped top, and we tucked it into a red pant. Now, this is one of my favorite combinations, stripes and red pants. It's a great Parisian chic feel that we love. And then since the pants are cropped, it was a perfect opportunity to show off a pair of black, strappy sandals, give her a little bit of height, but still keeping that sporty feel. And then we added a footprint with a leopard-print, belt really pulls the whole look together AND accentuates her waist to finish off the look a fitted black blazer to make it worktime-appropriate, and a stated cocktail ring. Our last stop we went for a schoolgirl-inspired outfit with a twist. We started off with a striped part again which we layered a button-up underneath. Love a button-up, one of our favorites. Very polished. Very clean. And then we put in a bright pop of color with a high-waisted yellow skirt. Very unexpected. It really adds a nice jolt of color to our entire look and brings out the stripes. We then added on a statement necklace to really add attention to her face, and then on bottom we borrowed from the boys with a pair of navy Superga's,one of our favorite shoe styles right now, they're so comfy and they have a little lift. And then to finish off our outfit, a classic PS1 special. Hopefully, we've given you some great ideas on how to wear your stripes. Thanks for watching FabSugar TV. I'm Allison McNamara, and I'll see you next time on Currently Trending.
