How Would React If the Man In Your Life Wanted to Change Your Appearance?

hmmmmm, women are always suggesting things to their men so why cant they suggest to us??
I'd tell him to go to hell! http://kateneedshelp.blogspot.com/
Gosh, I hadn't even thought of plastic surgery when I saw the poll question. That would definitely be out, unless it's something I wanted to do (and as I get older -- and older -- and older, it's becoming more of an option). But if he suggested a different hairstyle or an outfit, I'd be fine with that. Well....depending on how he phrased it. If we were shopping and he said, "Wow, honey, this would look great on you!" I'd be fine. If he said, "Did you see Mike's wife at the party on Saturday? You need to dress the way she does," I'd bop him one. Luckily, my guy is fabulous and tactful (and generally oblivious to physical appearances), so I'm pretty lucky.
LOL, Layla. I was just pulling your leg. In fact, to answer truthfully, I really don't know how I'd react. I mean, if we were together for a while and he said something like, "you know, you'd look really pretty with lighter hair/longer hair/curly hair..." blah blah blah, I don't know, if I was in the mood for a change I'd consider it. I'm not afraid to do drastic things with my hair. Only if a guy was really ugly about it would I tell him where to stick it. If someone falls in love with you when you look a certain way why on earth would he want you to change? I'm always open to suggestions only if something about my current look is boring me. But I change for no one but myself, in the end.
No one likes criticsm...so I would probably listen but not really "hear" him and definately only change what I wanted to change...if I thought I needed to.
I think if told me he didn't like the trousers/top I wear, I'd listen and then maybe take his advice if he was Marc Jacobs, or whoever. But if he didn't like my nose/boobs/bum, I don't think I'd need to tell him to go to hell, the look on my face would be enough.
Layla, that's a good thing, right?
Gosh, Tor. You are so quick on your feet!
I'd say, "what, you want to 'ugly me down' so we look more alike?"
it totally depends on what he said and how he said it. if he ever even dared to tell me i was fat, i wouldn't tell him to go to hell, id kick that SOB's a$$ so hard... **gets cold drink of water** okay, telling me he likes or doesn't like something is cool, but he ever told me i needed to change ANYTHING about myself, whew honey my pic would be on evening news.
I have naturally black hair, and look younger than my age of 35. My (grey) hair growing in a really bright silver and I've dyed it since my late 20's. My hubby thinks silver hair threaded though black hair is sexy, so he suggested that I stop dying it and let it grow out naturally. So I did! I get compliments all of the time. It looks like silver highlights. The look has inspired a few other dark brunettes I know to give it a try. What can I say? The hubby is brilliant on occasion. :)
I wouldnt change for anyone i'd only make changes for myself in order to make myself happier..My boyfriend says I'm his fantasy girl physicially but he wants me to learn how to cook before he proposes to me :)
I would listen to what he had to say- and take what I want. It reminds me of this one time (a loong time ago) when my (ex)boyfriend got me a bottle of blonde hair dye for my birthday (I have black hair). Umm...goodbye! haha
right there with ya DesignRchic. lol
I can tell my hubby wishes he could change my PMS, he just knows better not to say a word, just rub my back and choose your words very carefully sucka! Yours Truly, DesignRchic
We don't have to tell them that Toxxic they are ALL self conscious enough already! lol It's a man thing. My hubby wishes he could change my PMS attitude does that count? lol Although he's never summoned the courage to say as much...I can just tell. ;)
If it was something minor like he liked a certain hair color on me or cut ya know big deal, but if he said my boobs were to small (HAHAH YEA RIGHT! to big) or I need a tuck or something Id b really really hurt and prolly give him a vasectomy myself. Its one thing that I speak about it and want this or that but another for u to tell me i need something. A wife wouldnt hurt her mans ego by saying he needed a bigger wang would she? so there.
I don't think I would marry a guy who wanted to change me. I come as is.. love it or lump it!!!
LOL Gracey. So true!
They say women marry expecting to change the man and men marry expecting the woman not to change. lol
Pfffft. I am who and what I am and wouldn't change for anyone. Joe married the me I am now and he's never made any suggestions for changes, nor whould I for him.
This happened to me before I got married to my husband, and he was right. I wasn't taking care of myself physically and I let my weight go (unhealthy eating habits). He wasn't attracted to the extra pounds. It hurt me, but I put myself in his shoes and agreed. Now I'm a much healthier eater thanks to him. The truth hurts, but also heals. Yours Truly, DesignRchic
Hmm...I don't think he would. If I complain about something, he tells me that I look perfect and shouldn't complain about a thing. He's sweet, but I'm not blind - lol The only thing he doesn't like is if I cut my hair shorter, but he says if that's what I want to do - it's okay by him. If he did make suggestions, I'd listen though just because it would be so weird for him to do so.
