Prabal Gurung may have shown his main collection on Saturday, but his Fashion Week was far from over. His Fall 2014 designs for ICB were shown tonight in far Chelsea, on a runway that hinted at its tone before the first model stepped out with geometric sculptures and lights dancing on the floor. Gurung took traditional men's fabric suiting and color ways and gave them not only a feminine spin, but also a technologically advanced one.
Rubber printing and needle punching were a few of the techniques used to create the predominantly separates-based collection. Grays, blacks, and deep green made the few bursts of cobalt stand out that much more, and the embellished section at the end felt like the ultimate in day-to-night cool-girl dressing. A standout piece was a forest green coat with a perfect symbolic mix of old and new: hand-embroidered, digitally rendered paillettes.
