Jason Wu Resort 2014: Shadows of a Tropical Place
If you're not going to spend the Resort season at an actual resort, there's no reason your clothes can't look like you're there. For Resort 2014, Jason Wu took the leaf shapes one might see on a beach in the tropics and used them quite cleverly as shadows. Black fronds of foliage turned up as decorations on everything from a white toggle coat to a sheer dress with strategically placed leaves. The offering nods to nature with a few emerald green pieces, the most striking of which is a patent suede shawl collar overcoat. Wu also experimented with denim — or at least a fabric that looked like it. The collection includes two blue silk dresses held together with white contrast stitching. They, like the rest of Wu's work, are quietly elegant and endlessly wearable.
