Jean Paul Gaultier knows how to put on a show. Aside from marching a parade of models that spanned the age spectrum down the runway to surprising everyone with the showgoers, the designer presented a collection of bombastic, energetic, and edgy clothing that we're sure will be featured whenever his next retrospective goes on exhibition.
Voluminous, structured clothing in army green appeared to embody futuristic army gear, while pairs dressed in metallic jumpsuits seemed to be Gaultier's conception of astronauts in the 22nd century. But then, in yet another surprise, the collection jumped across the English Channel in a display of British pride. Tartan garments, dresses with an abstracted Union Jack print, and headpieces that reinvented the crown marched down the runway. The punk sensibility has never looked more glamorous.
