Jenny Packham's Fall 2013 collection took its inspiration from the great intellectual salons — the salonnières — of 17th-century Paris, and the cultured women who frequented them. And just like the splendor of the rooms that came before, the gowns were dripping in equally rich hues and sparkling embellishments. Ruby red, burnt cinnamon, teal, navy, and black provided the color foundation for Packham's eveningwear, while the cuts vacillated between slim and streamlined, and gauzy voluminous princess silhouettes. There were certainly some Oscar red-carpet contenders to be found (we're looking at you, black cutout fishtail gown), and a jewel-toned thigh-high split number we hope Kate Middleton nabs for herself.
