We're not sure this is a seasonal trend so much as an ongoing trick for jazzing up simple frocks. We're sure, though, that this season the jewel adorned dresses came in droves (still present come Fall) and on everything from the boyish and boxy to the long and body-skimming . We figure at some moments, these embellishments can pull collection together by making a necessary basic more interesting (and formal) without much manpower. It's similar to the bedazzler days of the early nineties when you looked at that simple t-shirt with shoulder pads and thought to yourself, "What can I do to make this awesome t-shirt even more awesome? Yeah, we figure that's basically how it works. As with anything this trend can veer from glamorous and chic to tacky at a moments notice, and those who were most successful bejeweled creatively and skipped the bib thing all together. Take the Alberta Ferretti jewel embellished tunic dress (left), for instance. All the hot glue guns in the world couldn't make that dress look so absolutely stunning.
