I like to mix once in a while. But you can only pull it off it the pieces look good together. It also depends on what your outfit looks like.

I try and avoid it. I feel like while sometimes it looks really nice in an unconventional way mostly it's not done right.

I never mix. But I never wear silver or any white metal either. it just looks too generic. Yellow Gold or gold tone is just so much more expensive looking. It makes you looks like a million bucks even if they are cheapo $4.80 earrings from forever 21.I've noticed everyone is slowly gravitating towards yellow gold, at least 75% percent of the jewelry I've sold (I make it) in teh past year has been gold. the rest was a even mix of copper and silver. Now I'm picky I do admit but I have to make sure the hard ware on my handbags is yellow gold to match my jewelry. LOL

I have trouble mixing, but I want to because I have pieces of both and I don't like to choose, either! I want a piece, maybe a bracelet, that has both silver and gold in it (David Yurman, anyone? haha, priceeyy!) so that I can feel as if I'm pulling it all together.

I grew up wearing just gold all the time. I have a few pieces of silver that I change up a bit, especially if it's fashion jewelry. I have two gold necklaces I don't take off, so gold is pretty much it . . . then my boyfriend gave me a really pretty pearl ring (pearls are my favorite) on a white gold band, so even though it's gold, it looks silver and I've been forced to mix. I try to mix from a far though, so if my rings are silver, I leave the necklaces and earrings gold. If my earrings are silver, I take the necklaces off. I prefer gold but what can I do, it's a pretty ring and it was a big step for him, so mixing it is.

I just read in Harper's Bazaar that mixing metals is out for the moment. But at the same time their rules are not commandments.

Mixing different coloured metals, like mixing certain fabric colours, is to be avoided at all costs. It is an age old fashion no-no. It looks very tacky. I don't even agree with mixing metals in a single piece of jewellery - that's just trying way too hard. I say, find the colour that suits your skin tone (I only wear yellow gold because I have tanned skin), and then stick to that colour but don't overdo it! There's nothing worse than looking like you're wearing your entire jewellery collection at once. In fact, that's even tackier than mixing metals..

I only do it if the piece is mixed already. Otherwise I feel so WRONG!

I used to not wear gold. I was kind of afraid to because, first, my watch is silver, and then I got my class ring, which is also silver - and I wear those everyday. I really wanted to wear gold, but it didn't match. My solution: wear one piece (in my case, a watch someone gave to my sister... who doesn't wear watches) with silver AND gold, that way you can wear either or both! I'm still a bit cautious about it, but I definitely do it all the time now.

My wedding band is gold but everything else I wear is silver.

My wedding ring is platinum so when i want to wear yellow gold i usually throw in a bracelet or necklace that has both silver and yellow in them to tie it together.

love mixing! i think it looks awesome but only if you do it right. i think a theme is more important - a delicate chain wouldn't work with a spiked dog collar even if they were both silver, but a delicate gold chain with an equally delicate silver piece would.

i'm pretty psychotic about not mixing metals, right down to belt buckles and shoe details...kinda OCD...but really, i think my skin is way too pale to pull off mixing.

i have generally never mixed, pretty much to the point of obsession- only wearing silver, or on the rare occasion gold. but never together. my friends would even bug me about it.. oh dont let kristen see- you're mixing metals.. blah blah. however lately i am beginning to think its quite evolved, and am trying really hard to do it, cause i actually like the way it looks on other people. sigh. is hard being a victim..

I don't like to mix, not my style. Besides I only wear yellow gold so I really don't have anything in silver or platinum.

I never used to because I only wore white gold or platinum (or cheapie silver stuff). But my boyfriend bought me some beautiful gold earings and gave me a really pretty, thin gold bracelet he'd had for a while, so I started wearing those. I'd probably mix now since I like all my jewelry pieces, and I don't want to be forced to choose.
