When Melania Trump took the stage at the Republican National Convention in a white Roksanda dress, it reportedly sold out in seconds. Of course, it was in her flashy little number that many questioned whether Trump's wife plagiarized Michelle Obama's speech from 2008. "Aha," we thought, even a fabulous, trendy update to a LWD can't fully distract from the underlying controversy.

Fast forward one week, and Congresswoman Joyce Beatty stole Melania's look at the DNC in a very "take that!" moment. Joyce did add a touch of va va voom with the addition of a statement necklace, whereas Melania stuck to simple jewels. And while Joyce reportedly claims the look was nothing but an innocent gift from her husband, we'll go out on a limb and call it the sassiest darn dress she's ever been given.

Make no mistake, both Melania and Joyce had a very important responsibility at the convention: delivering speeches in support of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, respectively. But that didn't mean Twitter users ignored their matching outfits. Instead, games of "who wore it best?" took over our feeds, causing us to smile, shrug our shoulders, and admit that a smooth sheath like this one is actually pretty great — whether you're a Democrat or a Republican. Read on to see how both women wore the go-getter design, then shop it in the black colorway currently available, along with similar styles.
