Lady Gaga launched her newest endeavor at Barneys New York last night — a whimsical Gaga Workshop just in time for the holiday season. Filled with trinkets inspired by Lady Gaga's childhood and career, the fifth floor of Barneys has been transformed into eight mini shops, complete with a huge Lady Gaga spider, a wig boudoir, and an out-of-this-world bookstore. Celebrities and designers came out to support the singer, including Blake Lively in a stunning cobalt blue suit from Elie Saab's Spring 2012 Runway. Surprisingly, Lady Gaga opted for a more conservative ensemble for the evening, a custom tweed Chanel gown designed by Karl Lagerfeld, tres chi! On Allison: Topshop top, House of Harlow necklace, JewelMint bracelet.View Transcript »
Hey, it's Allison McNamera and I'm here with our associate producer Liza Caplan. Hi. And today we're gonna show you how to make a sequined collar. You've seen embellished collars on Haley Steinfeld and on the Givenchy runway and it's a great look for the holiday season. It's an easy way to update a shirt you already own and it's a fun and affordable way to try out this trend. Here's what you'll need: A cotton button down, any color and style will work, as long as it has a collar. Sequined trim. Feel free to have fun with color. Aline's gillette blue, pins and scissors. Simple, right? First take your shirt and lay it out so that the collar is flat. Then you're gonna measure out your first row of sequined trim. This one is gonna the longest because you want to make sure that it curves around the collar. A tip here is to let the sequins hang over just a little bit so you don't do the collar underneath. Then, glue down your first row. A good idea here is to pin it down as you go so it stays in place while you're working. Then you're gonna measure out your second row of sequins, which are gonna be in a straight line. You're gonna glue them down and then continue to do the same thing until you've filled up the whole collar. And then you're done. But make sure to let the glue dry completely before you go to wear it. We hope you enjoyed this quick and easy way to add glitz to a basic white button down.
