Hey there, it's Allison. With 2011 quickly coming to a close, we rounded up our favorite designer and celebrity style tips that we've heard throughout the year. Most agree that the important thing is to dress for yourself and not follow trends. Rachel Bilson likes to start with a basic canvas, Tommy Hilfiger says not to try too hard, and Alexa Chung likes to get into character for her outfits. Hear all of these trendsetter style tips and more in today's Fab Flash. My style secret is to not overdo it. And, to know what looks good on you and not take trends too literally. Shoes are your big change-up. So, I think twist your hair up and put on the highest heel that you can handle at night. It's shoes that really change everything for me. During holiday parties I end up recycling a lot of my cocktail dresses and just wearing like a layering piece, like a blazer. Hey, are you guys dressing to suit your shape is a big one. Clothes don't fit you it always looks a bit bad. Some of the better outfits I wear are when they're not really me, they're more like a character that I'm playing for the evening. It's always good to start with something very basic. Start with a plain canvaseasy white t-shirt and jeans, and then you can either dress it up and embellish it with a really cool purse. Accessories, I think, are key. To me, there's always got to be something that sort of turns it off. I'm meaning, if something, if everything's shiny has to be something that sort of feels a little casual. Sometimes it might be a little messy. Things can't be perfect thing. Not everything can be buttoned. You don't try too hard, if you try too hard, you miss it. Be yourself and dress for yourself first and not for a trend or for other people. I think this is key. You need to find out a style and design from the collection that doesn't overwhelm your figure and... Personalize it. Really, personalize it. And, step out of your comfort zone and try something a little bit different, something you thought you could never pull off, you do. Look at the proportion on your body before looking at the detail. I think a lot of people choose clothes because there is a tricky details to keep the decorations in place. But, first what's important is that the feet and the proportions look good on your proportions. Confidence. Being happy in what you're wearing. Ironing what you're wearing and really feeling comfortable and confident. I think every woman should have a good white shirts, a good blazer; I think, things that make you feel comfortable and things that fit. Be cool and casual high heels, always high heels. You know those big platforms are helping every one of us look taller and slimmer. A timeless classic. That's for your body shape and don't dress for somebody else that you're thinking is worth wearing a trend or you're buying something just because you think it. Right, you should always buy something because it actually strikes a chord with you. So take a cue from these fashionable celebrities, and designers, and use these styling tips to elevate your look for 2012. I'm Allison, thanks for watching Fab Flash on Fab Sugar TV.
