The Look For Less: Lanvin Strass Necklace

Lanvin at ShopStyle

I adore how ribbon necklaces look simultaneously whimsical and elegant; kind of like a fancy DIY. The dramatic nature of this Lanvin Strass Necklace ($469, originally $935) would add decadence to my wardrobe, but even at the sale price, I can't afford it. Seriously — does it really cost that much to make this necklace?

To see the look for less,

Forever 21 at ShopStyle

This Forever 21 Jewels & Lace Ribbon Necklace ($7) is just as breathtaking without the crazy price tag. I can already picture the lace and jewel trim against a simple white tee for maximum contrast. Done and done.

I  the 1st one. I agree w/ Keller. It looks pretty easy to duplicate. It may not be Swarovsky crystal if DIY though. Most people can't tell the difference, anyway. :halo:

I have never really been a huge fan of ribbon necklaces, but I do own one that looks really good with a "V" neck shirt I have. I guess it really depends on the type of ribbon the necklace is, how big the stones are, and the cut of the top you're pairing it with.

I can't get into the ribbon-necklace thing...I think they look silly.

I actually love both of these...yes the cheaper one isn't even close but its still the general idea...and I don't know about you but I would be more apt to wear the black beads then "diamonds" on a regular basis...besides why not DIY then you pick out your own beads!

Not a big fan of either but if I had to choose I would go for the Forever 21. I don't like the big rhinestone look.

Uh, yah I think I would just make it. The Forever 21 necklace looks a little to saloon burlesque girl for my tastes.

ehhh...I'm not sure. Maybe.... I'd make a DIY Lanvin instead...it looks pretty easy to duplicate.
