Kristy Caylor, designer of ethical fashion line Maiyet, explored a number of prints and embellishments for Fall 2014, among them dotted punch card patterns, diamond motifs, and even strips of decorative bells that jingled down the runway on evening dresses. Texture played a huge part in the show, from cropped jackets with decorative quilting layered over split-hem dresses to bright yellow fur trims on coats and camisoles. When it came to fabrics, there was something for everyone, including silk, patent, chiffon, velvet, and wool. The varied collection meant everyone could find something they liked.
Though the layering suited the runway setting, most successful were the simpler looks: a black silk evening dress with a shorter overlay and paneling, a tailored suit worn with a wide-collar blouse and tie, and slouchy silk dresses in a gray graphic print. You also won't want to miss the footwear, from two-toned Mary Janes to thigh-high cranberry suede boots.
