Hi, Allison McNamara here. Malin Akerman, Sophia Bush, and more step out for Vena Cava's fashionable party. We have the story in today's Fab Flash. Vena Cava held a stylish soiree with GenArt to celebrate their fall collection at Chateau Marmont last night and celebrity fans of the brand, including Malin Akerman, Busy Phillips, and Sophia Bush, were just a few of the stylish stars that came out to support. Naturally, all of them were dressed in Vena Cava. Malin chose printed pants and a topknot paired with Vince Camuto shoes and handbag. Busy Phillips tried out a black jumpsuit with a plunging neckline and Sophia went sweet in a printed dress with yellow lace-up booties. GenArt helped Vena Cava get their start in the fashion industry, and designer Sophie Buhai told me how she and co-designer Lisa Mayock orchestrated their first fashion show. We got our start because we had graduated college and we wanted to have a fashion show.were friends, and were totally naive, and didn't know what we were doing, so we invited, like, everybody in the fashion industry, and a wind tour Julie Gilhard and Lin Yeager, and just made these crazy silk screen scarves, and hand delivered them, and had all of our friends help us, and we did a show for like two thousand dollars and everyone came and it as written up in the New York Times." "That's amazing." "Yeah, it was very makeshift." Vena Cava is always known for having full collaboration including Danny Joe jewelry and shoes by Ten Over Six. For their newest venture, they're on a quest to create the perfect band t-shirt We just, we've been going to concerts, and the merch is always really bad, and we keep being like, someone needs to design band t-shirts the way band t-shirts were great in the 70s and 80s it's like when the designs are actually amazing, so that's kind of a new collaboration segment we're working on." Guests were even treated to a poolside performance by St. Vincent's for fall. Sophie and Lisa drew inspiration from the 1940's noir films, and new noir. And Sophie told me how these retro films translated into their collection We were working a lot more with tailoring, we were using bolder colors and bolder cuts, and stronger clothes for women that are feminine but feel really strong. We can't wait to see what Lisa and Sophie will turn out for spring 2013. But one thing that will always be a Vena Cava mainstay: We usually do a lot of like geometric looking print, and we always have some kind of interesting hardware, i don't know, hardware, elements, we're really into fur and Mexican jewelry. Thanks for watching Fat Sugar TV, I'm Allison Macamara and I'll see you next time.
