There's something so simple and pure about monochrome looks, and we saw a multitude of them at Max Mara's Spring 2014 show on Thursday.
The collection, which Laura Lusardi created as a sort of tribute to New York City, was filled with minimalist takes on some of the most important trends of the moment. A sense of boudoir sparkle came from lamé fabrics cut into slip dresses and shirts, while sheer materials were made into short-sleeved hoodies and skirts. The mainly beige looks were punctuated at the center of the show with a selection of jewel-tone ensembles in purple, green, red, and midnight blue. But even when using such strong color, Lusardi preserved the minimalist sensibilities of this collection by sticking to strong, straight lines.
