She Can't Stop: Miley Cyrus's Sexy Red Carpet Evolution

Oct 8 2013 - 11:16am

From her Maxim Hot 100 victory [1] to a few exhibitions of controversial behavior, Miley Cyrus [2] has had one heck of a year [3] — and it's only October. She may have gotten her start as Hannah Montana — but judging by her edgy haircut, skin-baring ensembles, and suggestive performances, it's pretty clear that Miss Miley is all grown up. She's gotten progressively more experimental with her style over the past couple of years and has been mixing things up with microminis, strategic cutouts, and dangerously low necklines — not to mention a midriff-baring look or two. To celebrate the release of Miley's much-anticipated album, Bangerz, we're taking a look at 15 of her sexiest red carpet looks.

Miley chose a mesh-paneled Hervé Léger bandage creation to support David Geffen at the Grammy Awards Salute to Icons event in 2011.

Miley toyed with the idea of going sexy and futuristic for the People's Choice Awards in January 2012 — she chose a pale-colored David Koma dress with sheer cutouts and gemstone paneling, and she accessorized with a Marchesa clutch and metallic Jimmy Choo heels.

For the LA premiere of The Hunger Games in March 2012, Miley bared her toned midriff in a spaghetti-strap top and floor-length skirt by Pucci. It set the tone for many future ab-baring looks.

Miley sexed things up for the Billboard Music Awards in May 2012, arriving in a crisp, white Jean Paul Gaultier button-down jacket (and little else). She spiced up the plunging neckline with a Jacquie Aiche gold body chain and a pair of black-and-white striped Christian Louboutin heels.

Miley's black cutout Zimmermann dress was likely the talk of the June 2012 Australians in Film Awards — she paired her mini with Christian Louboutin ankle-strap heels and showed off her sparkling engagement ring as she hit the red carpet with fiancé Liam Hemsworth.

Miley rocked a low-cut Emilio Pucci gown [4] with sheer panels for the MTV VMAs in September 2012, which worked perfectly with her new short blond 'do and silver spike earrings.

Miley went rocker-chic in September 2012 for the iHeartRadio Music Festival, where she showed off her figure in a silver metallic Moschino skirt. She upped the sex factor with a cropped, slightly sheer black top and leopard-print pumps.

Miley's look for the VH1 Divas concert in December 2012 was definitely one for the books — she showed some skin (and a tattoo) in a skintight Norma Kamali alligator dress with sexy side cutouts.

Miley made sure to show off her toned abs for the Marc Jacobs runway show in February. She rocked a striped skirt and cropped Mickey Mouse sweater from the designer's Spring collection and added some edge with Jean-Michel Cazabat pumps and a Jacquie Aiche body chain [5].

Miley was the picture of sexy sophistication at Elton John's annual Oscars viewing party in February. Her white, long-sleeved Emilio Pucci gown was tempered with an open back — it perfectly fused Miley's sultry side with a hint of Old Hollywood glamour.

Recently, Miley dropped jaws with her edgy, punk-inspired look for the 2013 Met Gala. She chose a sequined fishnet dress from Marc Jacobs's Fall 2013 runway collection, which she paired with Eddie Borgo jewels, red lipstick, and a spiky hairstyle.

Going back to basics in a Valentino jumpsuit for Maxim's Hot 100 celebration in Las Vegas.

For the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, the singer donned a black-and-white Balmain jumpsuit featuring an intricately woven texture and some serious all-over checkerboard print. Givenchy heels and a bold red lip completed her rocker-chic style.

Cyrus stayed true to her signature color palette — red, black, and white — in a patchwork Proenza Schouler dress accessorized with a Chanel bag, Cartier nail bracelet, and white pumps at the LA premiere of Paranoia.

Miley is a punk — rocker, that is. The star showed off her fit frame in a leather bra top and bandage belt leather mini, both by Saint Laurent, at this year's Teen Choice Awards.
