We may have spoken a bit too soon yesterday when we questioned whether Blue Jasmine was the year's most fashionable film. Turns out Woody Allen has quite a formidable competitor to contend with: Karl Lagerfeld. But don't buy your ticket just yet — for now, Martina Neuen's four-hour documentary will air in Germany on Sept. 7 to coincide with the launch of the designer's Munich boutique.
Spanning Lagerfeld's life and career, Mode Als Religion (Fashion as a Religion) will focus on the parallels between fashion and, you guessed it, religion (not altogether an unfamiliar topic!). Lagerfeld allowed a camera crew into his studio for 16 months for the project, which also includes interviews with Diane Kruger, Sarah Jessica Parker, Claudia Schiffer, Suzy Menkes, and more. With a cast that stellar and a topic so enlightening, here's hoping the film makes its way to a theater (or small screen) near us!
